2015 Maybank Malaysian Open Winner - Lahiri wins Malaysian Open title

2015 Maybank Malaysian Open Winner - Lahiri wins Malaysian Open title

Lahiri birdied four of the first five holes on Sunday afternoon, and held on down the stretch for his first European Tour win.

Lahiri followed up his brilliant 62 in the third round with a four-under-par 68 to finish the tournament on 16 under, just clear of Wiesberger (74) who had led by five shots at one point on the last day but could not hold on.

2014 Maybank Malaysian Open Winner - Westwood weathers storm to win Malaysian Open title

Lee Westwood waited out a lengthy weather delay on Sunday to card a 4-under 68 and roll to a 7-stroke victory at the Maybank Malaysian Open.

Westwood completed the wire-to-wire win at 18-under-par 270. It was his 23rd career victory on the European Tour, but first since the 2012 Nordea Masters.

Bernd Wiesberger (67), Louis Oosthuizen (68) and Nicolas Colsaerts (70) shared second place at 11-under, while Danny Willett (70), Rikard Karlberg (70) and Julien Quesne (72) tied for fifth at minus-10.

Pablo Larrazabal (67) and Thomas Pieters (68) shared eighth at 9-under 279.

2013 Maybank Malaysian Open Winner - Aphibarnrat wins reduced Malaysian Open

Thailand's Kiradech Aphibarnrat completed a sensational wire-to-wire victory at the weather-shortened Maybank Malaysian Open when he overcame a host of stars with a gutsy performance on Sunday.

The big-hitting 23-year-old held his nerve for a battling two-under-par 70 to lift his second Asian Tour title by one-shot from Ryder Cup star Edoardo Molinari of Italy, who signed off with a 67, at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club.

Anders Hansen of Denmark shot a 66 to finish two shots back while 2011 Masters champion Charl Schwartzel of South Africa settled for tied fourth position following a 71 in the US$2.75 million championship sanctioned by the Asian Tour and European Tour.

2012 Maybank Malaysian Open Winner - Oosthuizen plays it cool to win the Maybank Malaysian Open

IT was a sobering experience for Louis Oosthuizen as he not only made amends for his Augusta defeat but also pocketed a cool US$416,660 when he won the Maybank Malaysian Open at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club yesterday with a score of 17 under 271.

There was never a worry that the South African was going to slip, or that there will be another play-off to determine the winner, as the World No 19 was fully focussed on the task at hand.

Scotsman Stephen Gallacher carded a battling 70 to finish second while American David Lipsky, winner of the Cambodian Classic last month, finished joint third two shots back after a 70 alongside Danny Willett of England (71) and Spaniard Rafael Cabrera-Bello (71).

Former Asian Tour No 1s Jeev Milkha Singh and Jyoti Randhawa of India were the best placed Asians in tied 11th place in the US$2.5 million event sanctioned by the Asian Tour and European Tour.

2011 Winner - ITALIAN STALLION

Matteo Manassero gave himself the perfect birthday gift by becoming the youngest ever champion of the Maybank Malaysian Open, holding off challenges from Gregory Bourdy and Rory McIlroy on Sunday.

The dashing Italian, who turns 18 on Tuesday, produced a superb final round of four-under-par 68, thanks largely to a pivotal eagle three on the 10th hole to triumph by one with a 16-under-par 272 from Frenchman Bourdy, who battled to a 67 at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club.

A week after his Masters disappointment where he led for 63 holes before fading away, McIlroy produced a brave fight in the US$2.5 million showpiece, which was celebrating its 50th anniversary and sanctioned by the Asian Tour and European Tour.

The Northern Irishman, the world number nine, battled magnificently on the back nine to give himself a title chance but failed to find the crucial birdie at the last hole to force a play-off with Manassero as he settled for third place with a 69 for a 274 total.
