2013 Omega European Masters Winner - Thomas Bjorn wins European Masters in playoff
Thomas Bjorn made a 12-foot birdie putt on the first playoff hole Sunday to beat Craig Lee for the Omega European Masters title.
Bjorn added to his title from 2011 after watching Lee's attempt from 15 feet slide left of the hole on the par-4 18th. Both had finished with 20-under totals of 264.
Earlier, both players missed 20-foot putts for the win in regulation on the misty, rain-swept final green following a 30-minute suspension for fog to clear.
Bjorn, who waited out the delay standing on the 18th tee, missed left and then watched on TV in the scorer's hut as the 36-year-old Lee of Scotland sought to clinch his first career title.
Lee, who led by two shots after his 61 on Saturday, had his putt catch the right lip of the hole and carded a 67.
Bjorn's 14th career European Tour title was his first since winning here in 2011, when he closed with 62 to also finish 20 under.
2012 Omega Europen Masters Winner - Richie Ramsay wins European Masters by 4 shots
Richie Ramsay captured the biggest prize of his professional golf career on Sunday, three weeks before he returns to the scene of his greatest amateur triumph to get married.
Ramsay shot a 5-under 66 to win the European Masters by four strokes. The 29-year-old Scotsman was in control for most of the final round in the sun-bathed Swiss Alps and finished at 16-under 267. Four players tied for second.
Ramsay earned $440,000 for his second European Tour victory, following the South African Open title in 2009. The overnight leader put the victory above his triumph in the 2006 U.S. Amateur Championship, which he won in Hazeltine, Minn.
It was one timely victory, too.
Ramsay is planning to marry Angela Hudinski on Sept. 21 at the Hazeltine club where they met during the tournament that launched his international reputation.
"I met Angela there and we're going back there to get married," Ramsay said, joking that their guests will now expect him to fund the drinks bill.
Ramsay, who is set to move up the world rankings from No. 110 into the top 70, had never before led a tour event after 54 holes, and countryman Paul Lawrie was favored Sunday as he sought back-to-back victories after winning the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles.
2011 Omega European Masters Winner - Bjorn wins Omega European Masters
Thomas Bjorn has claimed back-to-back victories on the European Tour after a final round 62 at the Omega European Masters in Switzerland.
The Dane's nine-under-par round at Crans-sur-Sierre matched his career best in a European Tour event and helped him overturn a three shot deficit to win by four strokes.
Bjorn, who also won the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles last week, has now won three events this year.
Germany's Martin Kaymer finished on 16-under-par to finish second while Rory McIlroy, Jaco Van Zyl and Jamie Donaldson tied for third on 15-under-par.
Bjorn started his day slowly and was one-over-par through four holes. He then produced four birdies in a row before another at the 11th hole saw him take the lead.
He birdied the 14th and then eagled the 15th hole, sinking a 12-foot putt in the process. Bjorn produced back-to-back birdies on the final two holes to close out the victory in style, holing 8-foot putts at both.
