European Tour Golf Betting Odds: At the end of every European PGA Tour season, the top golfers in the world get together for a quite special event, the World Cup of Golf. Teams of two play four grueling days on the course, two days of four-ball play and two days of alternate shot play. The best scorer from the four days will ultimately be named the 2016 World Cup of Golf champion.
All of the action at the World Cup of Golf will take place from Thursday, November 24 through Sunday, November 27, 2016.
2016 World Cup of Golf At a Glance

Par: 288
Course Length: 6,947 yards
Defending Champion: Australia (Jason Day & Adam Scott)
The World Cup of Golf has been used on again, off again by the European PGA Tour. The event hasn't been held since 2013, and there was no tournament in 2010 or 2012 either. In 2013, the tournament added an individual flair to the competition, but after Jason Day won it in helping Team Australia to the World Cup title, the organizers scrapped the idea.
The World Cup of Golf also has historically moved all over the world as well. This is going to be the second straight tournament in which Australia has hosted, but we've seen it held all over China, Barbados, Portugal, Spain, Mexico, Japan, Argentina and the United States, and that's just since 2000.

It's amazing to think that 10 different countries have won the last 10 World Cups of Golf. The last time a nation was able to win the World Cup of Golf as a repeat champion in recent history was South Africa, a nation which won the event in 2001 and 2003.
What's even more rare is the golfer who wins the World Cup of Golf multiple times. The last man to win multiple World Cups of Golf was Tiger Woods in 1999 and 2000, and prior to that, it was Ernie Els in 1996 and 2001.

Not surprisingly, the Americans have dominated the World Cup of Golf historically. Their record of 24 wins in this event will likely never be touched and will only be grown upon. However, at least since 1996, the nation with the most wins in the World Cup of Golf is South Africa, largely thanks to the play of Ernie Els, one of the nation's most recognizable golfers and athletes in general.

It's pretty amazing to think what the Americans were able to do in the World Cup of Golf in the 1960s and in the 1990s. Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer each won this event six times, including four times as a pairing. When Jack and Arnie went on their roll, they won the World Cup of Golf four times in five years.
However, the best American pairing of all-time in this event for our money was Fred Couples and Davis Love III, a pairing which won the World Cup of Golf four straight years from 1992 through 1995.
No team formed since the late-90s has managed to win the World Cup of Golf multiple times, and the most recent success any golfers have had are two titles as members of teams in the World Cup of Golf, including Ernie Els, Tiger Woods and Ian Woosnam.
