European Tour Golf Betting Odds: Qatar is one of these countries that is incredibly rich in oil but is ridiculously top heavy in terms of its society. That said, it's a country that is starting to have a lot more in the way of major sporting events. Sure, the Qatar Masters isn't anything like the World Cup that will be in Qatar in 2022, but it's a big tournament for sure on the Euro PGA Tour in January.
All of the action at the Qatar Masters will take place from Thursday, January 22 through Sunday, January 25, 2018.

The Qatar Masters has become a much more notable tournament in recent years. Back in the mid-2000s when this tourney was less than a decade old, the directors of the Qatar Masters literally had to pay players to show up to this event. It was a sanctioned Euro PGA Tour event, but it was one of those tourneys early in the year that players just flat out didn't want to show up to. But all of the big time money came into play, and now that the prize pool is up to $2.5 million, it's virtually impossible to avoid this event, especially since there are 48 world ranking points up for the grabs for the winner.

The Qatar Masters finally has a back-to-back winner for the first time. Branden Grace was the victor in both 2015 and 2016 in Doha, and he's set to go for a three-peat in 2017.
But it's not like we haven't seen players come awfully close to pulling that off. Alvaro Quiros won this event in 2009 and finished as the runner-up in 2010 and 2011. Henrik Stenson won the Qatar Masters in 2006 and was the runner-up in 2005, 2008 and 2009.
South Africans have a good history at the Qatar Masters. Grace has two titles here, while countrymen Retief Goosen, Ernie Els and Darren Fichardt have also won the Qatar Masters.

The Qatar Masters only has three two-time winners in its history. The first was Adam Scott, a man who actually was a winner in this event before it became a popular play for the top players on the Euro PGA Tour. Paul Lawrie pulled off the double as well, and what made his more notable is the fact he had 13 years in between his first victory in 1999 and his most recent in 2012
And then of course, there's Branden Grace, the first back-to-back winner of the event from 2015 and 2016. For a man who had never finished in the Top 5 at the Qatar Masters, the last two years have been a great run for Grace.

Really low scores are hard to come by at Doha Golf Club. The Qatar Masters has only had two men in its history shoot -20, and neither one of those tournaments was anywhere near close. Paul Lawrie won by seven strokes in 1999, while Adam Scott won by three shots.
Scott meanwhile, also has one of the biggest victories in the history of the Qatar Masters. He won by six shots in his -19 win in 2002.
Then again, it should be reminded that prior to 2007 or so, this was a tournament that was basically reserved for the lesser players on the Euro PGA Tour who just wanted a shot to win an event without having to deal with most of the top notch players. But even in 2016, Branden Grace won this event at -14 and won by two shots over Rafael Cabrera-Bello and Thorbjorn Olesen.

How to bet on Commercial Bank Qatar Masters
The odds of a golfer to win the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters will generally look something like:
- Tiger Woods + 150
- Phil Mickelson + 250
- Steve Stricker + 300
- Jeff Overton + 700
- Ernie Els + 700
- Field + 600
These betting odds will be lower when betting on a golfer to finish in the top three, as the sportsbook must pay off three different winning bets.
A player would have to bet $10 to win $150 that Tiger Woods will win the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters, while the bettor wagering on Jeff Overton stands to win $70 on their $10 wager.
Another commonly placed bet in European Golf golf is head-to-head finish between two players. With this bet, a player doesn't really care what place the golfer finishes in, as long as the golfer wagered on finishes higher than the other golfer.
A head-to-head betting line for the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters will look something like:
- Tiger Woods - 190 Steve Stricker + 150
In this bet, players wagering on Woods to finish higher than Stricker will be asked to risk $19 to win $10, while bettors believing that Stricker will finish higher than Woods will bet $10 to win $15.
Those familiar with sports betting will have no trouble making the transition to European Golf golf wagering, while those new to the world of sports betting should be able to pick up the concepts of European golf betting without to much trouble.
