European Tour Golf Betting Odds: If you’re looking for the best advice for golf odds, you’ve certainly come to the right place. Here at Bookmaker sportsbook we’re previewing the Open de España, which takes place from April 14th through April 17th, 2016, at the Real Club de Golf El Prat in Sotogrande, Spain, featuring James Morrison, Miguel Ángel Jiménez, Raphaël Jacquelin and Francesco Molinari.
James Morrison won his second European Tour tournament of his career at this event last year at the Open de España and is the reigning champion heading into this year’s event, which takes place from April 14th through April 17th, 2016, at the Real Club de Golf El Prat in Sotogrande, Spain. Considering his success at this event last season, Morrison could be favored in golf odds.
James Morrison shot a 10-under 278 to win the 2015 Spanish Open, defeating the field by four strokes. The victory marked Morrison’s second European Tour win of his career and his first in five years. His first win was at the 2010 Madeira Islands Open BPI. The 31-year-old came close to winning this event in 2010 as well, but lost in a playoff to Álvaro Quirós after Quirós shot par on the first extra hole. He will look to capture another win at the event again this year.
Other former champions at the Open de España include Miguel Ángel Jiménez, Raphaël Jacquelin and Francesco Molinari. Jiménez was the 2014 champion, finishing at 4-under 284 and defeating Richard Green and Thomas Pieters in a playoff with a par on the first extra hole. He also finished in a four-way tie for second place last year along with Molinari. Jiménez has captured 26 wins in his career with 21 of those victories coming on the European Tour. The 52-year-old’s most recent win was at the Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai, a Champions Tour event, in January 2015. His success at this tournament the past two years makes him a player to watch.
Jacquelin won the 2014 Open de España in a playoff as well. After finishing at 5-under he went on to defeat Felipe Aguilar and Maximilian Kieffer with a birdie on the ninth extra hole. The victory marked the French player’s fourth European Tour win of his career. He also captured victories at the Sicilian Open in 2011 and the BMW Asian Open in 2007. Molinari won the 2013 tournament here in Sotogrande with an 8-under 280, defeating the field by three strokes. The 33-year-old has won three European Tour events in his career including the WGC-HSBC Champions in 2010 where he finished at 19-under and defeated Lee Westwood by one stroke.
Charl Schwartzel (2007), Sergio García (2002) and Robert Karlsson (2001) have also won here at the Open de España in recent years in golf odds.

How to bet on Open de España
The odds of a golfer to win the Open de España will generally look something like:
- Tiger Woods + 150
- Phil Mickelson + 250
- Steve Stricker + 300
- Jeff Overton + 700
- Ernie Els + 700
- Field + 600
These betting odds will be lower when betting on a golfer to finish in the top three, as the sportsbook must pay off three different winning bets.
A player would have to bet $10 to win $150 that Tiger Woods will win the Open de España, while the bettor wagering on Jeff Overton stands to win $70 on their $10 wager.
Another commonly placed bet in European Golf golf is head-to-head finish between two players. With this bet, a player doesn't really care what place the golfer finishes in, as long as the golfer wagered on finishes higher than the other golfer.
A head-to-head betting line for the Open de España will look something like:
- Tiger Woods - 190 Steve Stricker + 150
In this bet, players wagering on Woods to finish higher than Stricker will be asked to risk $19 to win $10, while bettors believing that Stricker will finish higher than Woods will bet $10 to win $15.
Those familiar with sports betting will have no trouble making the transition to European Golf golf wagering, while those new to the world of sports betting should be able to pick up the concepts of European golf betting without to much trouble.
