Here at Bookmaker sportsbook we’re previewing the True Thailand Classic, which takes place from March 10th through March 13th, 2016 at the Black Mountain Golf Club, in Hua Hin, Thailand, featuring Andrew Dodt, Thongchai Jaidee, Scott Hend and Miguel Angel Jimenez.
Australian golfer Andrew Dodt is the reigning champion at this year’s True Thailand Classic, which takes place from March 10th through March 13th, 2016, which takes place from March 10th through March 13th, 2016 at the Black Mountain Golf Club, in Hua Hin, Thailand, featuring Andrew Dodt, Thongchai Jaidee, Scott Hend and Miguel Angel Jimenez.
Andrew Dodt shot a 16-under 272 to win the inaugural True Thailand Classic and defeated Scott Hend and Thongchai Jaidee by one stroke. Dodt started the final round down four strokes and shot a 67 on the final day to win the event. The victory marked Dodt's third professional win and his second on the Asian and European tours. The 29-year-old captured his first victory in 2010 at the Avantha Masters where he finished at 14-under 274. He also won the 2014 Isuzu Queensland Open, an event on the PGA Tour of Australasia. A repeat win here at the True Thailand Classic would be a nice boost to his career in early 2016.
Thailand’s Thong Thongchai Jaidee and Australian Scott Hend could again be contenders at this event in 2016 as each came within a stroke of a victory last year. The 46-year-old’s most recent win came at the Porsche European Open on September 27th where he shot a 17-under 267 and beat out Graeme Storm by one shot. Jaidee has captured 18 wins in his career including seven on the European Tour and 13 on the Asian Tour, the second most all-time. Hend has won 12 professional events in his career. His latest victory came at the Asian Tour’s Venetian Macao Open on October 18th where he finished with a 20-under and won by a margin of three strokes. Hend’s lone European Tour victory came in 2014 when he won the Hong Kong Open after finishing with a score of 13-under and defeating Angelo Que in a playoff with a par on the first extra hole.
Miguel Angel Jimenez finished tied for seventh at the last year’s True Thailand Classic, finishing at a 13-under. Jimenez has 26 professional wins in his career which includes 21 on the European Tour. His most recent win on the European Tour came at the Open de España in 2014 where he went 4-under and defeated Richard Green and Thomas Pieters in a playoff, shooting par on first extra hole.
The True Thailand Classic is in its second year now. The event is co-sanctioned by the Asian and European tours and features a $2 million purse in golf wagering.

How to bet on True Thailand Classic
The odds of a golfer to win the True Thailand Classic will generally look something like:
- Tiger Woods + 150
- Phil Mickelson + 250
- Steve Stricker + 300
- Jeff Overton + 700
- Ernie Els + 700
- Field + 600
These betting odds will be lower when betting on a golfer to finish in the top three, as the sportsbook must pay off three different winning bets.
A player would have to bet $10 to win $150 that Tiger Woods will win the Thailand Classic, while the bettor wagering on Jeff Overton stands to win $70 on their $10 wager.
Another commonly placed bet in European Golf golf is head-to-head finish between two players. With this bet, a player doesn't really care what place the golfer finishes in, as long as the golfer wagered on finishes higher than the other golfer.
A head-to-head betting line for the True Thailand Classic will look something like:
- Tiger Woods - 190 Steve Stricker + 150
In this bet, players wagering on Woods to finish higher than Stricker will be asked to risk $19 to win $10, while bettors believing that Stricker will finish higher than Woods will bet $10 to win $15.
Those familiar with sports betting will have no trouble making the transition to European Golf golf wagering, while those new to the world of sports betting should be able to pick up the concepts of European golf betting without to much trouble.
