A.F.C. Bournemouth English Premier League Odds
Over their long history, Bournemouth has rarely been involved in top flight football. The club has mostly vacillated between playing in the third-tier and the fourth-tier of English soccer, so watching them in the Premier League has been a treat for their fans. That’s especially the case considering where the club was a decade ago.
Just 10 years ago, Bournemouth was in League Two and nearly had to declare bankruptcy because the club was over £4 million in debt. They were placed in administration and had points deducted twice in consecutive years due to financial malfeasance. Things looked bleak for the club after it had 17 points deducted at the start of the 2008-2009 season, but they managed to rally to avoid relegation into non-league play and found a new owner. Since then, Bournemouth has rocketed through the English football tiers.
Bournemouth will never be a team that can threaten for a Premier League title considering its limited resources, but its continued survival is a story of inspiration to newly promoted clubs. This will be the Cherries’ fourth season in the Premier League, and they have even been able to finish in the top half of the league despite having a stadium capacity that holds 10,000 less fans than any other Premier League club.

Rather than sit back and play for draws like most small clubs in the Premier League, Bournemouth has been known for its tenaciousness on the attack. Although manager Eddie Howe was a defender during his playing career, the Cherries finished 12th in the league in goals in 2015-16, 7th in goals in 2016-17, and tied for 9th in goals in 2017-18.
Bournemouth will continue to press their luck on the attack this season. Joshua King and Callum Wilson led the club in goals last year and both will feature again this year. The Cherries have not made many moves as of yet though, only adding Sheffield United’s David Brooks to this point.
