Old School Meets New School
The NL West is one of the tightest divisions with three of the NL’s best teams all vying for the division crown. Two of those teams will square off in a three-game weekend set as the Colorado Rockies head to the City of Angels to take on the Los Angeles Dodgers. This will be a continuation of a tough divisional stretch for the Rockies who will have just finished hosting the Diamondbacks....
In a rematch of the Wild Card game last year, the San Francisco Giants will host the New York Mets in a three-game series. Neither team went into that game on the best note, but it’s still been all downhill from there for both squads. The Giants have the second worst record in baseball and sit at the bottom of their division while the Mets have only avoided the NL East cellar due to the only team worse than the Giants: the Phillies....

It’s been a rough month for the St. Louis Cardinals. They’re now 10-22 in their last 32 games after dropping a weekend series to an Orioles team marred in nearly as big of a slump as them. With that opportunity to get back on track gone, the Cardinals will now travel to the City of Brotherly Love in hopes that the Philadelphia Phillies and baseball’s worst record can help put them back on the right path....
Some recent hiccups have caused the New York Yankees to lose ground in the AL East and they’re now in a virtual tie atop the division as they return home to host the Los Angeles Angels in a best of three series. The Angels took two of three from New York last week, but the Yankees have proven to be a far superior team at home, going 22-9 in the Bronx. They’ll hope some home cooking can get them back in the win column during this series....
If the Twins want to remain in contention, they must start playing better in their friendly confines, and they’ll get a chance to turn it around this week against the Chicago White Sox. Minnesota was recently swept by the Indians to drop to 14-24 at home on the season, but the White Sox have struggled on the road this season so it’s hard to know how this series will develop. The talent level on these teams is pretty even, and it could come down to which starting pitching holds up better....
The American League is extremely muddled beyond the top three teams, and it figures to be a competitive chase for the second wild card berth. The Toronto Blue Jays and Texas Rangers should be two teams in that mix and they will face off in a four-game series this week....
While Cleveland is only 2.5 games better than Baltimore in the standings, it has the superior roster. Despite playing on the road, the Indians should be confident in their ability to at least pull out a split of this four-game set.The Orioles have a nucleus that has found a lot of success in recent years and needs to start playing better in order to return to the postseason. Baltimore is still right in the thick of it all and would love to win this series against the defending American League champions....
While the Marlins have some young talent, they aren’t as deep on the mound or in the lineup as Washington and hope the home field advantage will be enough for them to pick up the series victory. The Marlins are better than their 30-37 record would indicate but this will still be a tough task against an elite foe. This series will be contested from Monday, June 19 through Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Marlins Park in Miami, Florida....

The Kansas City Royals were 8-3 in their last 11 games heading into Sunday. That’s good enough to hold off the fire sale a little bit longer. Can this hot streak continue or is it a result of the competition with the Padres, Giants and Angels offering little in the way of competition? We will find out in the three-game series against the Boston Red Sox beginning on Monday. Boston is playing well right now, too. Their success appears to be a lot more sustainable, too....
In a proverbial David versus Goliath matchup, the Houston Astros will head west to take on the Oakland Athletics. Houston tops the AL West—and all Major-League Baseball—in wins while the A’s are in the cellar of the division. While the Astros are sure to offer the A’s a challenge, Oakland is coming off a series win over the New York Yankees who rank second in the AL in wins behind Houston....
Chicago has dropped to last place in the American League Central and is 29-36 on the season, and a few more weeks of struggles will likely make them sellers at the trading deadline. While the White Sox have only been outscored by two runs this season they don’t seem to have enough star power to hang around in the divisional or playoff races.Toronto has a better shot at reeling off some wins to complete the turnaround, and this series seems available for the taking if the Blue Jays play well....
Atlanta split a four-game set against the Phillies, lost three of four to the Mets before bouncing back most recently with two wins in three games against the division-leading Nationals. The Marlins and Braves have the same number of wins this season with 29 so this could be a competitive series, with Miami boasting more talent but Atlanta with the home field advantage. This series will be contested from Friday, June 16 through Sunday, June 18, 2017 at the SunTrust Park in Atlanta, Georgia....
Much of the American League remains within a few games of .500 and nearly every team is within a handful of game from a playoff spot. The Seattle Mariners and Detroit Tigers kickoff a four-game series on Monday amongst the collection of mediocre teams in the AL. In the first series of the year, the Mariners took two of three. You can bet on MLB odds at BookMaker.eu every day of the season....

The Boston Red Sox have been playing great baseball. They sit atop the wildcard standings and are making a push on the Yankees in the AL East. The Houston Astros, meanwhile, have scuffled a bit lately, but they still hold the best record in baseball. Even with a depleted rotation, they should provide a challenge for the BoSox, particularly down in Houston....
The Minnesota Twins and Cleveland Indians kick-off a three-day, four-game series on Friday night. The series will feature a double-header on Saturday as the Twins try to maintain a slim lead atop the AL Central. The Tribe were the preseason favorites to run away with the division, but have yet to put everything together. Will this be the weekend Cleveland jumps to the top of the division?...
The teams will face off in a four-game set in New York this weekend, and it’s a crucial for the Mets to make up some ground if they have any shot at tracking down the Nationals since they currently sit 8.5 games behind. Washington has an elite offense and starting rotation and only bullpen woes have kept it from staying atop the National League in victories. The Mets have played a bit better of late but have an uphill climb to get back into playoff contention....
New York has scored 114 more runs than its opponents on the year to move to the top of the pack in the American League East, while the A’s are in last in the A.L. West and have been outscored by 77 runs.Oakland has one of the worst records in the major leagues but has played well at home on the year and would love to pick up a couple wins in front of its fans. The A’s pitching has been poor this season and that could be bad news against a group of New York hitters who have been knocking the cover off the ball the entire season....
Don’t look now, but the Tampa Bay Rays are in the heart of the AL playoff race. Sure, it’s still early, but the Rays are getting plenty of offense from players not name Evan Longoria. That’s been their biggest issue over the years. Meanwhile, the Ray’s weekend opponents, the Detroit Tigers, will look to use their home cooking to gain some ground. The two teams on the fringes will meet in a four-game set....
The San Francisco Giants are fighting to remain relevant as the season presses on. They’re likely sellers at the trade deadline while the Colorado Rockies will be looking to buy in what is a role reversal for these two teams. They’ll meet for their third series of the year this weekend. The Rockies have taken six of their first seven meetings, outscoring the Giants 40-20 in those seven games....

The Miami Marlins have been playing better baseball lately and return home for a brief two-game home stand to take on the Oakland Athletics. Both Oakland and Miami are going nowhere fast, but there’s quite a bit of power on display. From Giancarlo Stanton and Marcell Ozuna to Khris Davis and Yonder Alonso balls are likely to go flying, even with the spacious dimensions down in Miami....
There was a rematch of the 2014 World Series earlier this year with the San Francisco Giants and Kansas City Royals splitting a two-game series in Missouri. Now, they’ll meet up again in San Francisco for another two-game set. Both teams have really fallen off since their World Series showdown, each positioned to be sellers at the deadline....
