ACC Tournament Free Picks - Betting Odds Preview

The Duke Blue Devils will be gunning for a second straight ACC Tournament title after Zion Williamson and company earned the program their 21st a short season ago. But it’s the Florida State Seminoles who enter the tourney tabbed linemakers odds on favorite to hoist the hardware and cut the nets down when it all comes to an end on Saturday, March 14. The teams just so happened to battle one another in the final last year in a game the Dookies won by 10 points as 7-point neutral court favorites. Does either team have it in them to set up a rematch in the semis, or will another team steal the spotlight? Let’s put the futures odds under the microscope and see what online Bookmaker Sportsbook have to offer and see if we can’t fatten up the bankroll for next week’s Big Dance!

The ACC Tournament is set to tip-off on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at 4:30 p.m. ET from the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, NC. The games will be broadcast live on the ACC Network and ESPN.

Favorite to Bet: Duke Blue Devils +180

The ACC is so down this year that it would hardly shock me to see one of the dregs in the tail end of the betting odds make a deep run. The Pomeroy Ratings have it ranked the fifth best in the country, and that might be pushing it. While this year’s Duke team certainly has its flaws, it’s also proven to be an offensive dynamo when firing on all cylinders. Spearheaded by the 1-2 punch of Tre Jones and Vernon Carey Jr., the Dookies possess the nation’s No. 2 ranked scoring offense that ranks No. 8 in efficiency. While the free throw shooting and defense leaves much to be desired on occasion, both areas improved a bit throughout the tail end of the regular season. When Cassius Stanley and company are successfully bombing away from the Land of 3 and Carey Jr. is doing his thing down low, the Blue Devils are incredibly tough to beat. With a title on the line, I just don’t foresee any team in this watered down ACC preventing them from taking care of business.

Underdog to Bet: Louisville Cardinals +300

The Wahoos at +700 will without a doubt be a trendy pick for those attacking the ACC Tournament betting odds due to the way Tony Bennett’s kids closed the regular season out by winning 11 of 12 games. I’m just not buying it! As great a job the defense does uglying it up to the point of routinely frustrating all opposition, the Cavaliers offense leaves way too much to be desired for my tastes. With that, I’ll tab the team UVA just beat over the weekend as the rabid dog to back if indeed you aren’t dead set on backing the Dookies. There was a time when The Ville was playing the best ball in the conference. Every recent loss incurred by the Cardinals has come away from the KFC Yum! Center. The fact that they also got swept by Florida State is bothersome as well, but the Cards had the Noles on the ropes in Tallahassee and grossly failed to land the knockout blow in the second half. Jordan Nwora is a special talent that could rediscover where his HAM button is and singlehandedly lead Louisville to its first-ever ACC Tournament title.

Longshot to Bet: North Carolina Tar Heels +2200

Why the heck not?! As bad a season it’s been for ‘ol Roy and the Tar Heels, it would only make perfect sense to see this blueblood make some noise in the tournament; the ACC basketball gods should demand it! Never in my wet and wildest did I ever think it was possible for UNC to check in as the No. 14 seed in a 14-team tournament, but that is the reality of just how bad a season it was in Chapel Hill. Most of the carnage was incurred due to injury however, and the Tar Heels actually invade Greensboro the healthiest they’ve been in quite some time. Before getting handled by Duke in Durham to close the regular season, North Carolina had rattled off three straight wins and pointspread covers against NC State, Syracuse and Wake Forest. It also dropped a 79-77 OT decision at Virginia Tech earlier in the season. Two of those teams will represent the Tar Heels first two opponents in this tournament. Should it get past those two and gain confidence, anything could happen moving forward. With the talent on this roster, it’s certainly worth a stab at 22-1!
