Baylor Bears
The Bears had a tough game on Wednesday, as they faced Illinois. The Bears were extremely impressive in winning their first two games, as they defeated ULL by a score of 112-82 and Washington by a score of 86-52. Baylor is led by preseason AP All-American guard Jared Butler and All-Big 12 guard MaCio Teague. Butler was averaging 18.5 points per game through the first two games of the season, while Davion Mitchell was averaging 6.5 assists per game. Mark Vital was averaging 8.5 rebounds per game.
Gonzaga Bulldogs
The Bulldogs have been very impressive so far this season. They outscored Kansas 102-90 and then routed Auburn 90-67. Gonzaga faced West Virginia in a neutral site game on Wednesday. The Bulldogs were led in the first two games by Drew Timme who is averaging 26.5 points per game. Jalen Suggs is averaging 7 assists per contest, while Joel Ayayi is pulling down 8 rebounds per game.
Player to Watch
Baylor’s Jared Butler is one of the best players in the country. He will not put up the amount of points that some other players put up because Baylor has a lot of players who can score, but Butler is thought of as one of the top guards in the nation. “Jared is one of the best guards in the country. We all saw it, we all witnessed it,” said junior guard Davion Mitchell to the media, “Even during the quarantine, he worked really hard. … I feel like us as a unit, we make him a lot better too. Because we feed off him, seeing him play great and work hard, we work hard too.” Butler was averaging 18.5 points per game over the first two games of the season and he figures to have a big game against Gonzaga on Saturday.

It is always interesting when the top two teams in college hoops get together. This could easily be a preview of the NCAA title game in April. Baylor has an outstanding backcourt and when it comes to an edge, the backcourt is where I oftentimes look. I know that Timme is very good for Gonzaga and Kispert can be tough to stop, but I think Baylor has the players who can slow them down. I think there are a couple of plays to make for this game. I like the Bears plus the points and I also think this will be a high scoring game that goes over the total. Gonzaga didn’t look that great defensively against Kansas and there is every reason to believe that Baylor has more offensive weapons than Kansas. This should be a high scoring affair that goes over the total.
College Basketball Odds: Baylor 90, Gonzaga 87
