The Oregon Ducks and Memphis Tigers have both started the season ranked in the top-25, and will aim to live up to that billing during the non-conference slate. They will have a premium matchup against each other on Tuesday, with the winner adding some serious momentum as the season gets rolling. Even though they are close to each other in the rankings, the oddsmakers believe Oregon is the clear favorite in this matchup. For those that believe the polls, Memphis could be a popular pick, but the oddsmakers usually know their stuff.
The season is still young and there isn’t a lot of data on these two teams, so it will be intriguing to see how this matchup between nationally ranked foes shakes out.

Odds Analysis
The spread has not yet been released, but ESPN’s Basketball Power Index is giving Oregon an 85.6 percent chance to win this contest. The line seems likely to favor the Ducks by a few points, but check to see where it comes in as that will determine how much money comes in on each side.
Oregon is 1-0 on the year after starting the season with a 71-57 win over Fresno State. Memphis also began the year with a victory, cruising past an outmatched South Carolina State team by a score of 97-64.
Player to Watch
Payton Pritchard -- The Oregon point guard has been a difference-maker since his freshman season and now he is a senior. Pritchard could be in the running to be on some of the All-America lists by the end of the year, and Memphis will need to keep him from going off in this one.
Pritchard had a nice start to the season, scoring 24 points and adding seven assists against Fresno State. He shot 61.5 percent from the floor and does a great job of taking open shots while otherwise distributing the ball if he is covered.
Key Stat
28. That’s the number of points Memphis freshman center James Wiseman scored in his debut last time out. It was a very impressive performance, as he shot 11-of-14 from the field while adding 11 rebounds and three blocks, proving that he was more than ready to make the transition from high school to college.
Wiseman has a ton of talent and looked the part in the opener, but the level of competition increases dramatically in this showdown. The Ducks will certainly watch the tape and figure out a way to try to slow him down in this matchup. If Wiseman can immediately become a star, it’s a great sign for the Tigers’ prospects all year long.
College Basketball Pick
Oregon is the more experienced team and the presence of a standout point guard is a big deal, but Memphis brought in a really talented recruiting class and that group is going to grow up in a hurry for this one. If the Tigers are as big of underdogs as the computer models suggest, they are the easy choice to not only cover the spread in this one but pull off the upset to pay off nicely on the moneyline.
College Basketball Pick: Memphis Tigers 73, Oregon Ducks 70
