With the college basketball season quickly coming to a close, Saturday, March 2, marks the final regular season weekend for most schools and conferences. And as a result there is a full slate of games available to build a College Basketball parlay. The fun starts at 12 p.m. ET with a top 25 clash in the SEC featuring No. 24 Florida at No. 18 South Carolina on ESPN. With six teams ranked nationally, the SEC might be the toughest league in college basketball, though the Big 12, ACC and a few others would beg to differ. And every conference mentioned will be playing critical games to determine seeding for conference championship tournaments.
Not to be outdone the Big 12 and Big East offer up matchups between ranked foes. No. 7 Kansas visits No. 15 Baylor with those clubs looking to break a third-place tie in the Big 12. The game tips at 1 p.m. ET in Waco and can be seen on ABC. At 2:30 p.m. ET on FOX No. 12 Creighton hosts No. 5 Marquette in a Big East tilt. And the cherry on top of the betting day has the two best teams in the West Coast Conference going head-to-head when the No. 17 Saint Mary’s Gaels host No. 23 Gonzaga. SMC eked out a win in Spokane earlier in the season and can secure the regular season league title.

I can feel that I’m getting closer to a winning college basketball parlay after hitting three of four picks on last week’s ticket. I mentioned at the time that rivalry games are always a crapshoot and backing Duke on the road against Wake Forest turned out to be my only setback. The Dookies were catching 3-points on the closing line but lost by four, ouch. Saint Mary’s and Arizona came through as double digit favorites and I hit the OVER in the Mountain West clash between Air Force and New Mexico.
There was a time under legendary coach Ray Meyer DePaul basketball was really good. That seems like so long ago given what the program has endured over the last two decades. This season will go down as one of if not the worst in school history and even a mid-season coaching change couldn’t alter the direction. With just three wins and zero in Big East play, the Blue Demons have struggled and they’ve been a money pit at the betting window with only nine payouts in 27 games. One of those came against Butler earlier this season but I’m banking the Bulldogs exact their revenge against a squad that has a minus-16.3 scoring differential.
Winning inside Rupp Arena is a chore and one Arkansas hasn’t been very good at. Kentucky will by laying points in this SEC matchup and overall they’ve been good with payouts in 17 of their 28 games, including two straight and four of their last five. The Wildcats also have a win and payout over the Hogs from earlier this season covering the 5.5-point closing line in their 63-57 road triumph. UK boasts one of the top offenses in the country paced by five players that average double-figures in scoring. They’re tough to defend and explosive at home cashing the OVER in eight of their last nine home games.
Gonzaga has owned the WCC for the last two decades, but one team always close behind has been Saint Mary’s. The two have battled for regular season and conference tournament titles countless times over the years so I guess it’s only fitting that they end the season playing each other. This game is also about sending a message since there’s a good chance the two hook up in the tournament final. And the Zags would like to avenge a controversial home loss SMC last month in a game they led for nearly 31 minutes.
