We came a second half choke job from NC State away from sweeping the board with last Saturday’s parlay picks. Though the Wolfpack ended up winning by a bucket in overtime, we unfortunately laid three. The basketball gods giveth and taketh and they gave us a luck box cover with the UCLA Bruins who pulled away from Colorado late in the second half to topple the closing 12-point college basketball odds. The lone surefire win proved to be the Iowa State Cyclones who gave the Kansas Jayhawks all kinds of problems in the Phog as expected before falling by a last second bucket as 7.5-point road dogs. Let’s roll those winnings into this Saturday’s action and see if we can’t churn out another winning parlay card at the online sportsbook!

TCU Horned Frogs
Here I go again fading my beloved Kansas Jayhawks! I’ve done so in back-to-back games after backing K-State earlier in the week. Though TCU came up short in Morgantown on Wednesday night to afford West Virginia its first Big 12 win of the season, I got a feeling Jamie Dixon’s troops had one eye on this visit to the Phog. I apologize for being the bearer of bad news, but Kansas is by no means as good as its 16-2 record indicates. It stands 7-11 against the spread with four of its five conference wins coming by four points or less. Phog Allen Fieldhouse is a tough as nails venue to go into and win due to the environment paired with the refs giving Bill Self’s kids all the calls, but I truly believe the Horned Frogs have it in them to hand Kansas its first loss in front of the hometown faithful.
Remember the name Mike Miles Jr. This kid is the heart and soul of TCU and I expect him to show out in this one running up against a Wooden Award candidate in Jalen Wilson. Kansas has exhibited a knack for sending the opposition to the charity stripe (No. 200) and the Horny Toads are one of the best at forcing opposing defenses into committing fouls (No. 46). It also has the perimeter defense (No. 25) to limit Gradey Dick and co. from long range. Losers in three of the last four, I expect a “circle the wagons” type effort to be put forth by the road team that has TCU in a position to cover the 8-10 point spread if not win the game outright!
Texas Tech Red Raiders
K-State just scored their biggest win of the season by ousting the Jayhawks in overtime to put an end to its seven-game losing streak in the recent rivalry. Jerome Tang’s kids are going to have a tough time getting up for this one against a Texas Tech team in search of its first Big 12 win. It’ll likely enter the tilt fat and happy as well which isn’t a good thing considering it’ll likely be laying a hefty number in this premiere letdown spot.
Though Mark Adams’ kids have underachieved in the W/L column (10-8), I think some positive regression is headed the team’s way. Kevin Obanor and his mates have gone for 70+ points in each of its last two defeats to Texas and Baylor which should create some scoring success against the Wildcats No. 149 ranked scoring defense. Hopefully linemakers set a juicy trap and give us 8+ points. Hammer the Red Raiders if that proves to be the case!
Providence Friars
Saturday’s matchup pits two teams up against one another that I backed and faded the last time each took to the hardwood. I recommended backing DePaul plus the points at home against Xavier and fading Providence on the road at Marquette. You cashed both tickets dependent upon market entry point. The Blue Demons won outright as 9-point underdogs, while the Friars either pushed or failed to cover by a half-point. As great a win it was over the Musketeers for Tony Stubblefield’s kids who have now covered the CBB odds in three straight, it was an outlier more than anything else.
DePaul isn’t an above average Big East team. You know who is? Providence. Even in the defeat to the Golden Eagles, I came away extremely impressed with the team’s ability to compete shorthanded against the second most offensive efficient team in the country. Even if Jared Bynum is unable to return for this game, the Friars extreme advantage on the glass and ability to get to the free throw line and convert should be more than enough to cover a point spread expected to be in the mid-teens. After losing to Creighton and Marquette on the road in back-to-back games, look for Bryce Hopkins and his mates to take their frustration out on the Blue Demons – Lay The Chalk!
