We ended up 5-3 ATS with our side positions in the Sweet 16. Unfortunately, we only ended up cashing one parlay with UConn and Gonzaga. Had I gone with my gut and went all in on San Diego State winning outright instead of just taking the points against Alabama, it would’ve been a lucrative showing betting parlays at the online sportsbook. Hopefully you also invested in everything straight up. Final Four betting has arrived and we got three first-time programs making appearances. UConn is the only of the quadrant that’s cut the nets down before, and I think they’re deserved of being the -129 chalk to win once again. I truly thought FAU’s run would come to an end against Tennessee in the Sweet 16. Dusty May’s kids proved me wrong by defeating the Vols 62-55 in a game played at Tennessee’s pace. Very impressive! Then they went out and defeated K-State 79-76 in a game played at the Wildcats pace. Also very impressive! I’m very interested to see if they can pull it off again in the Final Four against a San Diego State Aztecs outfit that will march the best defense of all F4 reps and improved offense onto the hardwood. I don’t think they’ll be able to get the job done, and SDST will win a game played in the low to mid-120s; if not lower.
As impressive a run the Owls have had to this point, let’s not forget they ran up against Memphis and Fairleigh Dickinson in the first two rounds. On the other hand, the Aztecs opposed Creighton and Alabama during the second weekend and held two of the more explosive offenses in the country to an average of just 60.0 points per game. That’s 22.8 points less than the Crimson Tide averaged for the regular season and 16.8 points per game fewer for the Bluejays. Look for Nathan Mensah clogging the paint and the trio of Matt Bradley, Darrion Trammell, and Lamont Butler to be too much for the ninth seeded Cinderella out of the East to keep the journey going.

I got to hand it to Jim Larranaga’s Hurricanes who defied the odds in a big way to punch the program’s first-ever trip to the Final Four. Down 13 midway through the second half against Texas, I was already counting my money having slammed the Longhorns and parlayed them with San Diego State earlier in the day. As Kenny Rogers historically proclaimed, “You never count your money when you’re sitting at the table.” Miami would storm back and not only defeat Texas but do so convincingly in the closing minutes. The effort put forth by Jordan Miller was one of the best I’ve ever witnessed in NCAA Tournament betting with the senior going on to convert all seven shots from the field 7/7 and each and every shot from the charity stripe 13/13.
Let’s see if that type of efficiency carries over into the Final Four where UConn and its No. 11 ranked defensive efficiency playing at full strength will await. Even when the Huskies couldn’t buy a win in the month of January, I was still banging the drum for Dan Hurley’s kids. That train of thought continued to get backed up by the Pomeroy Ratings which consistently had the Huskies ranked amongst the best teams in the country. Well folks, the time has arrived for UConn to make it abundantly clear that it is the cream of the college basketball crop. I love the makeup of this Miami team, but the end is here for Isaiah Wong and Co. Too much Jordan Hawkins. Too much Adama Sonogo. Too much size and sharpshooting for the Canes to contend with!
