Johni Broome leads the team in a number of categories, as he is averaging 18.1 points per game, 11.5 rebounds per contest and 3.5 assists per game but it seems unlikely he will play on Saturday, as head coach Bruce Pearl said after Tuesday’s game that Broome is doubtful for this contest.

These teams have not played since 2016 when it was Purdue winning 96-71 at home. They also met in 2001 with Purdue winning 79-61 at home.

This is technically a neutral site game in Birmingham but it will probably seem like a home game for Auburn since most of the crowd will be rooting for the Tigers. The injury to Broome is the major story for this contest. I have not been impressed at all with Purdue so far this season, as there only really good win was at home against Alabama. The Boilermakers have not played well away from home and even with this game being at a neutral site, I don’t think it will help Purdue that much. Auburn with a healthy Broome is definitely the better team. It should be more even with him out of the lineup, but oddsmakers will have made a major adjustment to the odds and teams oftentimes will step up in their first game without an injured star player. I’ll still go with Purdue in this game and also take the game to go under the total.
