A heavyweight Big Ten battle between nationally ranked squads hits the CBS airwaves on Saturday, February 15 at 1 p.m. ET inside Mackey Arena when the No. 16 Wisconsin Badgers visit the No. 7 Purdue Boilermakers. Purdue is going to be feisty after having their four-game winning streak snapped by Michigan on Tuesday. Just three weeks earlier the Boilermakers easily handled the Wolverines, 91-64. The Big Ten has been unpredictable this season but one thing’s for sure and that’s Purdue’s success at home. The Boilers are 12-1 in their barn with a pair of wins over nationally ranked opponents. Meanwhile, Bucky is on a heater at the Bitcoin sportsbook going 9-2 against the College Basketball betting line in the last 11 games.

Wisconsin Badgers
Back to back road wins and three straight overall has pushed Wisconsin back into the Big Ten race. The Badgers also covered the spread in those three games and they’ve been a good bet on the road. They are just 4-4 SU but the Badgers have covered the closing line in six of their eight road contests while going 15-8-1 ATS overall. Bucky also has payouts in five of the last six meetings with Purdue, including the last two.
Playing a methodical game last time out the Badgers beat Iowa on the road 74-63. They got the win even though they struggled offensively. They shot less than 40 percent from the field but picked up points by making 12 three-pointers and going 14 of 17 from the free throw line, two areas where they excel. As a team Wisconsin shoots 36.5 percent from behind arc and leads the nation making 84.1 percent of their foul shots. In close games hitting those freebies become a big deal. They combined to make more than 84 percent of their foul shots in the last two road games.
A big chunk of the offense comes from the starting five led by John Tonje, who averages 18.6 points and shoots 91.7 percent from the stripe. With Tonje scoring 11 points the Badgers closed the win over Iowa on a 16-4 run. Second leading scorer John Blackwell added 19 points and the duo combined for more than 55 percent of the scoring. Opponents can’t lock down on those guys either with three other players averaging more than 9.0 points per game.
Purdue Boilermakers
Though they had a higher ranking the Boilermakers were a 3-point road dog in their contest against Michigan on Tuesday. And although they lost, 75-73, to snap a three-game winning streak they stayed within the betting line to continue a nice run of payouts. Over their last 12 games Purdue had success at the betting window in 10 of them. Purdue has been favored in each of the last six meetings with Wisconsin but is just 1-5 ATS in those games.
The teams have also had a bunch of close contests over the last few years. Each of the last eight meetings has been decided by eight points or less with six of them having a margin of five points or less. The teams met three times in a little over a month last season with Purdue winning the two regular season meetings and Wisconsin getting a shocking 76-75 overtime win in the Big Ten tournament with all three games decided by a total of 12 points.
Trey Kaufman-Renn is a legitimate Big Ten player of the year candidate averaging 19.0 points, good for fifth in the conference, and 6.4 rebounds. He also shoots better than 60 percent from the field. He scored 22 points in the Michigan game hitting 11 of 19 shots, his fourth straight 20-point game and sixth in the last seven outings. I like Purdue but a lack of depth hurts against strong teams. The Boilers had zero bench points in the Michigan game and there’s a steep dropoff in production after three leading scorers.
