Before sitting out during a recent three-game homestand, Irving went off for 60 points in a win over Orlando and he hit the 50-point mark twice in a three-game stretch. It hasn’t been the season the Nets expected with injuries and losses piling up to move them well down the odds list for the O’Brien Trophy. They were at one point the betting favorite to win the NBA championship and are now looking to climb into the top six in the East to avoid the play-in tournament. Joel Embiid and James Harden both sat out and Miami failed to take advantage in the 113-106 setback dropping its fourth straight ATS. And things tightened up even more in the standings with the Heat splitting six games while going just 1-5 ATS. Miami won the first three meetings between the clubs this season earning a pair of payouts stretching their winning streak in the series to four. The teams cashed the UNDER in four of the previous five encounters.
Brooklyn Nets
Having Durant back in the lineup has made a huge difference. That’s going to be the case when you have one of the most prolific scorers in the game. Not surprising the current run started just after his return. KD averaged over 30 points in nine games since getting back on the floor, including a 53-point effort in a win over the Knicks a little over a week ago. For the season Durant averages 29.6 points, which would put him among the league leaders if he qualified.
And the club will get a boost having Irving in the lineup. The Nets have fared better on the road this season going 22-15 SU and 21-14-2 ATS. They are 5-2 SU in their previous seven away games, and in four roadies since KD returned they’re averaging 132.8 points with the OVER 3-1.
Miami Heat
Void of any superstars the Heat win by committee. Six players average in double figures led by Jimmy Butler (21.3) and Tyler Herro (20.9), who are both over 20 points per game. While they are in the middle of the pack scoring over 109 points per game, they lead the NBA in three-point accuracy at over 37 percent. The balanced attack has led to a 47-25 record and the top seed in the East. Despite their recent 1-5 ATS skid, the Heat are still a good bet at 40-31-1 ATS overall.
Miami has had all kinds of success recently against the Nets extending their winning streak in the series to four with a 113-107 payout victory earlier this month in a classic Heat performance. Four players scored more than 20 points with Bam Adebayo getting 30 and 11 boards. Tyler Herro has been a weapon on offense averaging more than 25 points this month while shooting over 50 percent from the floor.

This is a big game but not for the reasons you would have expected. The Nets want to keep the positive juice flowing as we near the end of the season and they will have Irving since it’s a road contest. He and Durant have been lights out when playing together and Brooklyn is a much better road team because Irving can actually play when the team’s out of New York. The points should flow giving value to the OVER and I like the Nets to continue their little run of success.
