The Golden State Warriors visit the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night in the back half of a season opening doubleheader on TNT. The Warriors are expected to be improved this season once they get Klay Thompson into the lineup, while the Lakers are one of the top contenders to win the NBA title. The Lakers big three of LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook struggled in the preseason and the Lakers are listed as just a 5.5-point home favorite on Tuesday night. Let’s look at the game and NBA picks.
This NBA matchup between the Warriors and Lakers takes place on Tuesday, October 19, 2021. Tip-off is set for 10:00 p.m. ET from Staples Center. The game will be broadcast live on TNT. We'll have NBA odds available at BookMaker.eu for this and every game on Tuesday’s NBA slate.

Odds Analysis
The Lakers have won six of the last ten meetings in this series, but they are just 5-5 ATS with six of the ten going under the total. The Warriors have won six of the last ten at Los Angeles with six of the ten going under the total.
Golden State Warriors
The Warriors have missed the playoffs the last two seasons, but they will eventually be healthy and ready to get back to being a title challenger. Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green can match up with any trio in the league and Golden State is going to be a force this season. It should be noted, however, that Thompson is not expected to return until sometime in January.
The Warriors have a great trio and a solid rotation around them with Kevon Looney, Jordan Poole, Andrew Wiggins, Otto Porter, Nemanja Bjelica and James Wiseman. One thing we know about Golden State is that they are going to shoot the three from anywhere. In addition to Curry and Thompson, Green is a threat from the outside. “I told him in Portland, our first (preseason) game, I want you shooting two or three 3s every game,” head coach Steve Kerr said to the media, “If you’re open, let it fly.”
Los Angeles Lakers
The Lakers have a powerful trio of their own in LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook. In terms of star power, it is a great trio but whether it will work on the court is another story. The Lakers are also an older team, as LeBron has played more minutes than any active player in the league and he is surrounded but a lot of players who have logged a ton of minutes with Carmelo Anthony, Dwight Howard, Westbrook and Trevor Ariza. There has not been an “old” team to win an NBA title since the 2011 Dallas Mavericks. The Lakers have eight players who have played at least 12 seasons in the league.
The Lakers are going to look really good at times, but they are also going to struggle. Los Angeles did not look good in the preseason, as they were winless heading into their last preseason game against the Kings. LeBron admitted that the big three is struggling right now. “It’s going to take a minute for us to become the team that we know we are going to be capable of being,” said James to the media, “We’re going to have moments where we’re not quite right there. We may take steps backwards. But that’s all part of … I think nothing is worth having if it’s not worth working for.”
Warriors vs. Lakers Picks
I have no faith at all in the Lakers, but this line is really short, so I will avoid the side. We know that the Warriors are not going to play much defense and I haven’t seen any indication that the Lakers are going to play any, so this should be a high scoring game. I will go over the total on Tuesday night.
