NBA ATS Picks – Denver Nuggets at Philadelphia 76ers Game Preview

Nuggets-at-76ers-bm

The Denver Nuggets have fallen off the pace in the race for the final Western Conference playoff spots and need to be great down the stretch to have a chance at qualifying for the postseason. They will be the underdogs next time out against the Philadelphia 76ers but would benefit greatly from an upset win.

The 76ers aren’t keen on letting that happen at home as they are jockeying for playoff positioning themselves in the Eastern Conference standings. Philadelphia is playing good ball right now and will be favored because of the location of this contest.

Denver has been a poor road team all season and needs to get that fixed in order to make a run at the No. 8 seed in NBA basketball odds.

Odds Analysis

The Nuggets are 39-33 straight up and 32-37-3 against the spread. Denver has gone 13-20-2 against the spread on the road this season. It is 11-12-2 attempting to cover as the underdog.

The 76ers are 41-30 straight up and 39-30-2 against the spread. Philadelphia has done a nice job at home, covering in 22 of 34 attempts. The 76ers are 26-18 against the spread as the favorite on the year.

Key Stat

12. That’s the number of wins on the road for Denver compared to 23 losses. The Nuggets are currently two games back of the Jazz and the Timberwolves for the Nos. 7 and 8 seeds in the Western Conference playoff race, and the road woes are the major reason why.

The Nuggets have been fantastic at home this season with a record of 27-10. Denver has to find a way to eke out some road victories down the stretch to catch one of the teams ahead in the standings. The 76ers have gone 23-11 at home this season and will aim to add to that success in this contest. Philadelphia has shot up to the No. 4 seed in the East on the strength of a five-game winning streak and is only one game behind the Cavaliers for the No. 3 spot.

This is a critical game for both teams.

Player To Watch

Joel Embiid -- The 76ers have finally gotten a full season out of their talented big man and he is showing the gifts he has when on the court. Embiid is averaging 23.4 points, 11.1 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.8 blocks per game on the year.

He is shooting 48.3 percent from the field and 31.1 percent from three-point range, proving to be a tough cover for even some of the best big men defenders in the NBA. Embiid had a monster game recently against Charlotte, scoring 25 points and hauling down 20 rebounds.

Embiid has rare skills for a center and his dominance has helped lift the 76ers from perennial doormat to playoff team. If he can help the team claim a victory in this matchup, the 76ers will be breathing down the necks of the Cavs as the regular season winds down.

If this game was in Denver, the Nuggets would be favored. However, the road woes will continue in this one. Philadelphia is playing at a high level and have the two burgeoning young stars in Embiid and Ben Simmons. Look for both of them to have big games to help clinch the victory for the 76ers.

Check to see where the NBA basketball spread comes in at. Philadelphia may be able to win by enough points to cover as long as the oddsmakers don’t make the Nuggets heavy underdogs in NBA betting lines.

NBA Odds: 76ers 115, Nuggets 107
