NBA Basketball Odds - Boston Celtics at Golden State Warriors Game Preview

NBA Basketball Odds

The Boston Celtics and Golden State Warriors were projected to capture their respective conferences this season. While the Warriors are once again living up to expectations, it has been a much bumpier ride for Boston. The Celtics are only in fifth place in the East as the season winds down.

They have struggled lately and will have a tough time breaking out of that funk next time out against the Warriors. Golden State has hit a mini lull recently but is 1.5 games ahead of the Nuggets for the top seed in the West and the huge favorite to finish as the No. 1 seed. The Warriors can get another step closer by capturing this game against Boston.

The Celtics have the talent to hang in this matchup but the team has been so inconsistent that it will clearly be a substantial underdog in NBA odds.

This NBA basketball game between the Boston Celtics and Golden State Warriors will be held at Oracle Arena in Oakland, California at 10:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday, March 5th, 2019. The game will be nationally televised on TNT.

Odds Analysis

The Celtics have a record of 38-26 on the year. They have gone just 3-7 over their past 10 games and will be hard-pressed to have the home court advantage in any playoff series it participates in this year. Boston is 14-16 on the road.

The Warriors are 44-19 on the season. Golden State went on a huge run after DeMarcus Cousins returned to the court but has cooled off of late, with four losses in its past 10 games. Even so, the Warriors are 23-8 at home this year and will be expected to take care of business in this one.

Injury Report

Warriors star shooting guard Klay Thompson sat out the team’s win on Saturday against the 76ers with a knee injury. Thompson is scheduled to have an MRI on his knee and his availability for this matchup certainly seems to be in peril.

Golden State obviously has plenty of other options. Point guard Stephen Curry is putting together another fantastic season, while Kevin Durant is likewise one of the best players in the NBA. Cousins and Draymond Green are also All-Star caliber players.

However, the potential absence of Thompson is a big one. He is averaging 22.0 points and 3.9 rebounds per game on the year, shooting 47 percent from the field and 39.6 percent from three-point range.

Player To Watch

Jayson Tatum -- The Celtics have a superstar in Kyrie Irving leading the way, but he is not getting as much help as expected this season. Tatum is an extremely talented player but has not been dominant of late. He has only averaged 11.8 points and 5.0 rebounds on 43.1 percent shooting in his past five games.

Tatum has the capability of scoring 20 points any time he takes the court, and doing so in this one would be a big help against an explosive Warriors team.

Free NBA ATS Picks

The NBA has been waiting for the Celtics to catch fire all year and it has never happened. Boston has great players but there is no cohesiveness. The Warriors will take advantage of Boston’s inconsistency and win this game rather easily.

Take Golden State to both win this game and cover the spread in NBA wagering.

NBA ATS Pick: Golden State Warriors 121, Boston Celtics 111
