The 2018-19 season isn’t over quite yet, as the Golden State Warriors and Toronto Raptors will face off in the NBA Finals for the championship. However, that hasn’t stopped the oddsmakers from already starting to map out the future destinations of prominent free agents.
One of the biggest names on the open market is 76ers forward Jimmy Butler. He switched teams in the beginning of this season when he made his displeasure known with the Minnesota Timberwolves and was shipped to Philadelphia.
It will be interesting to see if Butler sticks with the 76ers for the long haul or if he heads somewhere else in free agency in NBA odds.

Jimmy Butler Next Team Favorites
As the odds show, the most likely scenario is that Butler works out a longterm contract with the 76ers. He seemed to fit in well with the team and there have been reports that both sides are interested in hammering out an extension.
Butler can be given a contract of five years and $188 million by the 76ers, compared to a smaller amount if he goes elsewhere. If the 76ers are willing to give Butler a max contract, it seems like this won’t have much drama to it, and that’s why Philly is the favorite on the odds.
However, if the 76ers don’t think Butler is worthy of that much money, things could get interesting. LeBron James badly wants another star to join him in Los Angeles, and it seems like Butler would be an on-court fit there. That’s why the Lakers have the second-best odds of nabbing him this offseason.
The Brooklyn Nets are an up-and-coming team that could take the next step with the addition of Butler to the roster, and seem to have the cap space to make a legitimate run at him.
The New York Knicks are widely expected to chase Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving in free agency, but there is no guarantee they land one or both of those superstars. If not, Butler would be a nice consolation prize.
The Los Angeles Clippers exceeded expectations a year ago and are an attractive destination for free agents. Butler would help this team improve as it looks to enter the upper echelon of contenders in the Western Conference. Some of the longshot spots for Butler to land in free agency include the Dallas Mavericks and Indiana Pacers.

The 76ers are trying to build something and they certainly don’t want to let Butler go, especially after trading several pieces for him this year. He is a good enough player to get a handsome contract, and Philly is rightfully the favorite to be the team to ink him to a deal.
With Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons, the 76ers need a third banana in order to be a year-in and year-out contender in the East. Butler is that player and look for him to re-sign with the team this offseason. These odds are pretty good, so jump on them while you have the chance. If Butler makes it to free agency he is unlikely to return, but that is not going to happen in NBA wagering.
