The Chicago Bulls and New York Knicks are both among the worst teams in the NBA and they are simply playing out the string. They will face off in a game on Monday that will be held in New York. The Bulls have the superior record but the Knicks have been instituted as the three-point favorite. Both teams struggle to score at times, which is why the total has been placed pretty low at 212.5 points.
The Knicks have not been very good at home this season, but the talent disparity is not very wide in this one. New York is a good choice on the spread, as it should be able to hit some free throws at the end of the game to cover. The “over” is the pick on the total as both teams will not be playing lockdown defense because of the low stakes.
The Utah Jazz are at home on Monday against the Charlotte Hornets and have been pegged as strong favorites. Utah is jockeying for playoff positioning in the Western Conference and could really use this win. The Jazz have been really good at home on the season and are expected to take care of business. However, they are really going to have to pull away because the spread has been implemented at 11.5 points on the opening line. The scoring total has been listed at 218 points.
The Jazz is the better team but this spread is way too high. Charlotte should be able to keep this within single digits and cover the spread. The scoring total should not be at 218, as there will be enough defense in this game to keep the point total “under” that number. Both of these are strong bets on Monday.

While choosing the Hornets to cover is a solid play, there is another one among the opening lines which really stands out. The Portland Trail Blazers will be on the road on Monday to face off against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Portland has the better record and is the more talented team, but Minnesota isn’t horrible and does well at home. The Blazers are dealing with some injury issues, and yet the oddsmakers have still named them 3.5-point favorites on the opening line. The scoring total is listed at 223 points.
The over/under looks very prescient and there is no sense betting that one because it could go either way. However, the oddsmakers are really overestimating Portland’s ability to cover the spread in this one. In fact, Minnesota is a good pick to not just cover the spread but also pick up the home upset victory in NBA odds.
