The Houston Rockets are making a run up the standings, and every win has bettors believing they are a legitimate championship contender once again. The oddsmakers are taking notice as Houston’s odds to win the title have improved of late. They now have the third-best in the NBA, behind the Golden State Warriors, who continue to be the odds-on favorites, and the Milwaukee Bucks.
The Rockets started slowly but have won nine consecutive games to move into the No. 3 seed in the West. They will be the underdogs if and when they face the Warriors in the postseason, but it’s not out of the realm of possibility that Houston wins that series.
The Rockets’ championship odds have made some big moves recently and there are some others that are intriguing to consider at this point in the season in NBA futures.

Odds Analysis
The Rockets were recently behind the Toronto Raptors in title odds but have moved past them. Houston is listed at +900 to win a championship, while Toronto comes in at +1200. The Rockets are the more talented team but the Raptors get the benefit of playing in the East, the much easier conference.
The Warriors have struggled recently and even suffered a loss to the lowly Phoenix Suns. Even so, this team is battle-tested and ultra-talented. Golden State does not get very motivated in the regular season any longer and should hit another gear in the playoffs. That is certainly how the oddsmakers feel, as the Warriors are still listed at -200 to defend their title.
The Milwaukee Bucks continue to coast along with the NBA’s best record. They have come out of nowhere to put together a masterful season, and are the favorites to win the East. However, the oddsmakers think there is a gulf between them and Golden State, as Milwaukee is much closer to Houston than Golden State in the odds. Milwaukee is currently being wagered on at +750 to win the championship.
The Boston Celtics continue to be an oddsmakers favorite despite an inconsistent year. The talent is certainly there, which is why Boston checks in at +1500 odds to win the title. The Philadelphia 76ers have pretty good odds at +2500, as they could very well win the East if things go well. Even though the Indiana Pacers are right with the Celtics and 76ers record-wise, they are not considered true contender at +30000 odds.
The Oklahoma City Thunder might be the only true contender in the West besides the two powerhouses in Houston and Golden State. Russell Westbrook and Paul George could take over games in the playoffs, and thus OKC is listed at +3500.

The odds are too steep right now, so it makes sense to take a look at some underdogs. The Rockets have really turned it up lately and are combining a healthy roster with one that is jelling.
