NBA Basketball Odds - Orlando Magic at Toronto Raptors Game Preview

NBA Basketball Odds

The Toronto Raptors have only played one game in the postseason and already there are murmurs about their inability to get it done when the pressure heats up. Toronto is the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference and finished with the second-best record in the NBA during the regular season but were upset in Game 1 of their first round series by the Orlando Magic.

The teams will meet again on Tuesday, with Toronto badly in need of a victory to avoid an 0-2 hole and to also get all the analysts off their back. The Raptors have traditionally fallen short in the playoffs, but believe they have what it takes to contend for a championship following the addition of Kawhi Leonard to lead the way.

Despite the results of the first game, the Raptors will be substantial favorites in Game 2 in NBA playoff gambling.

This NBA basketball game between the Orlando Magic and Toronto Raptors will be held at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada at 8 p.m. ET on Tuesday, April 16th, 2019. The game will be nationally televised on TNT.

We'll have NBA basketball odds at BookMaker.eu available for every game of the 2019 NBA season.

Odds Analysis

The Raptors have been instituted as 9.5-point favorites to claim this victory. Toronto is listed as the -547 favorite on the moneyline while the Magic is the +414 underdog, so clearly the oddsmakers are not concerned with the slip-up in the first matchup between these teams.

The scoring total is listed at 210 points. Orlando was a nice pick on the moneyline in Game 1 of this series and it would pay off well again if another upset happens in NBA odds.

Last Time Out

Orlando point guard D.J. Augustin capped an impressive performance with a game-winning three-pointer in the waning seconds of the first game. The Magic ended up with the 104-101 victory and the early 1-0 series lead. Augustin finished with 25 points on 9-of-13 shooting while Aaron Gordon added 10 points, 10 rebounds and three steals.

Orlando outscored Toronto by 13 points in the second quarter to take a lead into intermission and then made enough big shots down the stretch to pull off the shocking win.

Leonard had a nice postseason debut for Toronto, scoring a team-best 25 points while adding six rebounds. Pascal Siakam also showed up with 24 points and nine rebounds for the Raptors.

Key Stat

0. That was the number of points for Raptors standout point guard Kyle Lowry in Game 1. He missed all seven of his shots from the field in the contest, six of which came from three-point range. Lowry also missed both of this free throw attempts.

It wasn’t all bad, as Lowry had eight assists, seven rebounds and two steals and finished with a plus-11 when on the court, but his lack of scoring punch clearly hurt the Raptors. Lowry needs to bounce back in a big way next time out to help his team knot this series at 1.

The Raptors hit an early speed bump, and some credit must go to the Magic as it is playing some really good basketball right now. However, one-game samples get overblown in the postseason and this is truly nothing to worry about. The Raptors are the superior team and will have a high sense of urgency in Game 2.

The Raptors will win next time out but the spread is too high. Orlando should keep this one close enough to cover the spread in NBA wagering. The “over” should be considered as more shots will be falling in this one.

NBA ATS Pick: Toronto Raptors 111, Orlando Magic 103
