The San Antonio Spurs are in great shape to make the postseason, but as it currently stands, they are staring down a potential first-round matchup against the Warriors. San Antonio wants to avoid that and has to move up at least one placement in the standings. They are on the road next time out but still have a winnable game as they take on the Dallas Mavericks.
The Spurs have not been that good on the road this season and have lost games to inferior foes of late. This is a big game for San Antonio while the Mavericks would be happy to play the role of spoiler in NBA gambling.
This NBA basketball game between the San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Mavericks will be held at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas at 8 p.m. ET on Tuesday, March 12th, 2019. The game will be nationally televised on TNT.

Odds Analysis
The Spurs have a record of 37-29 on the season, which currently has them in eighth place in the West, but just a half-game behind both the Clippers and Jazz. San Antonio is just 12-22 on the road this season and it’s a concern in this one. The Spurs would much rather face the Nuggets in the first round but need to pass a team ahead of them down the stretch in NBA wagering.
The Mavericks have a mark of 27-38 on the year. Even though the team is under .500, there have been some good signs for a brighter future. Dallas has lost four in a row and nine of ten, so it’s struggling right now, but is good enough to be competitive in this matchup. The Mavericks are 21-11 at home this season, so they will feel confident about their chances in this one.
Injury Report
Spurs small forward Rudy Gay is currently dealing with an illness. It seems likely he plays in this one, but keep an eye on his status. It’s possible Gay is limited if he isn’t at full strength. He is a key piece of the puzzle for San Antonio, averaging 14.2 points and 6.5 rebounds per game this season.
Gay is shooting 51 percent from the field and an impressive 41.4 percent from three-point range, so he has been super efficient all season. He also plays good defense, which could be useful in this one.
Player To Watch
Luka Doncic -- The Dallas future is bright because of their star rookie. Doncic is averaging 21.1 points, 7.3 rebounds and 5.6 assists. He is shooting 43.4 percent from the field and 34.9 percent from three-point range. Doncic was the third pick in the draft but is the favorite to win Rookie of the Year.
Even though the Mavericks have lost their past two games, Doncic has been impressive. He scored 31 points with 11 rebounds, seven assists and four steals against Washington, and then had 24 points, eight rebounds and five assists against Orlando.
Doncic is one of the game’s bright young stars and will aim to put on a show in front of this national television audience.

The Spurs are the superior team but they’ve had trouble on the road, while Dallas has played well at home. This could be a pick ‘em type matchup. The Mavericks have struggled of late and San Antonio has more motivation to grab the victory.
The Spurs are the pick to buck their road trend and secure a much-needed victory. They should be taken on the moneyline if they are slight underdogs, or on the spread if they are favored in NBA betting lines.
NBA ATS Pick: San Antonio Spurs 112, Dallas Mavericks 108
