NBA Basketball Odds - Three-Point Contest Preview

NBA Basketball Odds

Devin Booker set a record for points in a round and won the Three-Point Contest a year ago. So why isn’t he getting more love from the oddsmakers as he aims to defend that title? The Suns’ sweet-shooting guard will look to buck the odds and come away with the three-point shootout title once again.

He has some stiff competition as Warriors superstar Stephen Curry and Blazers’ scorer Damian Lillard are among the biggest names in the field. Curry’s little brother, Seth, is having a nice year in Portland alongside Lillard and is also expected to be in the mix.

Booker would love to hold off the field but there are a bunch of talented players that are expected to give him a good run in NBA odds.

The Three-Point Contest will be held at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina at 8 p.m. ET on Saturday, February 16th, 2019. The showcase will be nationally televised on ESPN.

We'll have NBA basketball odds at BookMaker.eu available for every game of the 2019 NBA season.

Odds Analysis

While Booker has been injured for segments of this season and his Suns team has struggled, the star guard can still certainly shoot it. He held off a talented field last year and would love to do the same in 2019. Booker’s odds at winning the Three-Point Shootout are listed at +523, which are the fourth-best.

Steph Curry is the favorite. He is shooting 44.7 percent from three-point range on the season, which is even more incredible considering how many of those shots are hotly contested or are on the move. It seems unfair to just let him set up and take open threes, and it’s why his odds are listed at +225 to defeat the rest of the participants.

Seth Curry is shooting 47.5 percent from three-point range, although he doesn’t take nearly the volume shots of his older brother. Curry might be nervous in this one as he is not generally in the limelight as more of a role player. It will be interesting to see how he does, but there is no question Seth Curry has the same smooth stroke as Steph and his odds are listed at +468.

Buddy Hield is the other player with better odds than the defending champion Booker. Hield is a former lottery pick who has really found his groove in Sacramento. He is a marksman and has odds of +500 to win the three-point contest.

Those are the four contestants expected to be in competition to win the three-point contest. The rest of the field has longshot odds. Joe Harris comes in at +678, followed by Damian Lillard at +745. While Lillard isn’t as natural a three-point shooter as some of the others, he can get really hot and is used to being on the big stage as an All-Star.

Bucks forward Khris Middleton is listed at +1105 to win this event, followed by Kemba Walker at +1143 and Danny Green at +1400. The biggest underdog is Dirk Nowitzki, who was dangerous from downtown earlier in his career but is at the end of it. This is more of a ceremonial pick and he has +2668 odds.

With Steph Curry in the field, it makes it tough for any of the underdogs to pull out the three-point shootout win. However, all it takes is one bad round -- even one bad rack -- for Curry to fall out of the competition. If that happens it will open up the competition. Green is shooting 42.1 percent from three-point range, and at such long odds he is a great choice to win this competition.

While he isn’t a star like some of the others, Green has a smooth stroke and is the pick to win the 2019 three-point shootout in NBA betting.
