Denver has pulled to within one game of Golden State atop the Western Conference and would love to enter the playoffs with the No. 1 seed.
The Nuggets have another big game next time out, as they host the Dallas Mavericks. It is an eminently winnable game, but the bigger question for gamblers will be which team covers the spread. There is an easy answer to that, and it is among the best bets of Thursday’s action in NBA wagering.

The Nuggets have a record of 44-22 overall and more importantly have gone 28-6 at home on the season. Dallas, meanwhile, is a horrific 6-27 on the road this year. It adds up to underdog status for the Mavericks, but if they aren’t blown off the floor, they could still cover. However, the Nuggets are playing really well right now and should be able to cruise to the win and cover the spread.
The Indiana Pacers have a big game next time out as they continue to battle the 76ers and Celtics for positioning in the Eastern Conference standings. Indiana is at home against a talented Oklahoma City Thunder team. The Pacers have dropped a bit following the season-ending injury to Victor Oladipo but they still have the same record as the 76ers and are ahead of the Celtics. Oklahoma City is only two games above .500 on the road this season. If the Pacers are underestimated in this one, they should be the pick on the moneyline.
The Sacramento Kings are just about out of the playoff race in the West, as they are four games out of the No. 8 seed as time ticks down. Sacramento has a tough game next time out on the road against the Boston Celtics. A win is too much to ask, but the Kings should be able to stick closer than expected in this one. Take Sacramento to cover the spread against Boston. The “over” is the right play on the scoring total as the pace in this one will be faster than the oddsmakers expect.

Utah has dropped down to the No. 8 seed in the West and does not want to end up there because it will mean a likely matchup with the Golden State Warriors in the first round. The T-Wolves don’t play very well on the road and are banged up. Minnesota will be hard-pressed to remain competitive in this showdown because Karl Anthony-Towns can’t do everything by himself.
