Odds Analysis

The Houston Rockets are riding high now that they finally have everyone healthy. James Harden was doing everything himself for a long stretch, and he is still playing at an elite level, but the complementary players are also pitching in. Houston has a really hard game next time out when it hits the road to face off against the Toronto Raptors. The Rockets are one of the best teams in the NBA but Toronto is just a touch better. Add in the home court advantage, and the Raptors are the clear favorites in this game. The matchup to watch is Harden against Toronto small forward Kawhi Leonard. The player that does better will put his team in a great spot. Look for the Raptors to not only win this game but cover the spread.

The Golden State Warriors are at home on Tuesday in a contest against the underachieving Boston Celtics. The Warriors may not have star guard Klay Thompson, who is dealing with a knee injury. The Celtics have talent up and down the roster but for some reason the group has never jelled. Even though Thompson could be out of the mix, Golden State has plenty of firepower, led by Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant. The Warriors are the pick to handle the Celtics easily and cover the spread.

The Portland Trail Blazers are in the thick of a close playoff race in the West and have all the motivation in the world to pick up a road win on Tuesday over the Memphis Grizzlies. The Blazers are easily the more talented team, especially considering Memphis dealt star forward Marc Gasol to the Raptors at the trade deadline. Portland is going to get this win, but the Grizzlies won’t go down without a fight. Memphis didn’t have Mike Conley last time out, but if he can return and play well, the Grizzlies are the pick to cover this spread.

The most intriguing game of the week will feature the Oklahoma City Thunder against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Thunder has been the better team this year but Minnesota gets to play at home, where it has stellar 20-10 record on the year. Casual fans may do a double-take if the T-Wolves are instituted as the favorites in this game, but it would be understandable considering how well Minnesota has done at home and because Oklahoma City star Paul George may not play due to a shoulder injury.

There are reasons to choose the T-Wolves in this game, but Russell Westbrook will have a couple times during each season in which he absolutely wills his team to victory. That is going to be the case in this one. Oklahoma City will likely be the underdog against Minnesota despite a superior record, but it is the right choice.

The Thunder should be a nice play on the moneyline and that is the best bet among all of the Tuesday games in NBA wagering.
