NBA Betting - Golden State Warriors at San Antonio Spurs

By  Jonathan Willis

Friday, November 16th, 2018

The Golden State Warriors are looking more vulnerable than they have appeared in some time. Golden State has lost three of its last five games, and the rumor mill is buzzing that there is dissention within the ranks as the Draymond Green-Kevin Durant beef has continued to stir. The Warriors had their worst outing of the season on the road against Houston on Thursday night, finishing with just 86 points against a below average Rockets defense in a 21-point loss. The San Antonio Spurs are looking to capitalize on that when they host the Warriors on Sunday night.

This regular season tilt between Western Conference foes will take place on Sunday, November 18, 2018. Tip-off will be at 7 p.m. ET from the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas. The game will be broadcast on FOX Sports Southwest and NBA TV.

Odds Analysis

There has been no line released for this game as NBA betting odds generally come out the night before the game. This article will be published on Friday, so there are no basketball betting lines available at this time. This will be the first meeting between these teams this season.

San Antonio will be well-rested ahead of this game. They will have two days off ahead of this tilt following Thursday night’s loss to the Los Angeles Clippers. It was San Antonio’s third straight loss on a three-game West Coast swing that included losses to Sacramento and Phoenix as well.

This will be the second half of a back-to-back for Golden State. The Warriors are on a Texas road trip after facing Houston on Thursday night, and they will face Dallas on Saturday before taking on San Antonio.

Key Injuries

The Spurs won’t have point guard Dejounte Murray for the season, but they are close to getting Lonnie Walker IV back into the lineup. He tore his right medial meniscus in early October, and he is close to returning. Walker has an outside chance of playing in this one, but he probably won’t be cleared to see action just yet. San Antonio might have Pau Gasol available for this game as well after Gasol did not travel with the team on its recent road trip to rest an ailing foot.

Golden State won’t have two of their stars for this game, but the Warriors are close to working with a full deck once again. Steph Curry will be out for another week as he recovers from a groin injury, and DeMarcus Cousins is nearly ready to go after rehabbing a torn Achilles heel. Cousins signed with the Warriors from New Orleans in the offseason, and the team is excited to see him in action.

Key Stat

Golden State is the best three-point shooting team the NBA has ever seen, but the Warriors were not on their game from beyond the arc on Thursday night. They went just 4-18 from three-point range, and if you subtract Quinn Cook’s numbers from the total the team combined to go 1-14. That is shockingly poor shooting from downtown and such a performance only puts more gas on the fire that there is something wrong with this team internally.

Player to Watch

LaMarcus Aldridge is the veteran leader on the Spurs, but and he is averaging a double-double each night. However, his shooting has been absolutely atrocious this season, and it is really holding San Antonio back.

Aldridge went just 6-27 from the floor against Phoenix and the Clippers in San Antonio’s last two games, and he is hitting just 41.1 percent from the field this season. Considering he plays pretty close to the basket these days, those numbers are troubling.

Live Betting Preview

The under should be a good bet in this game. Golden State has been playing good defense, while San Antonio has struggled to score. Even if the Warriors solve their internal issues, this will be the second part of a back-to-back, and they will have a hard time scoring.
