NBA Betting - Houston Rockets at San Antonio Spurs

The San Antonio Spurs lost their star, Kawhi Leonard, this offseason, and he has done well with the Raptors. But true to form, as the players change, San Antonio just continues to win. The Spurs are 6-4 in the earlygoing and will aim to add another win this week against Western Conference foe the Houston Rockets.

Houston had the best record in the NBA a year ago but has stumbled out of the blocks this season. The West has a lot of capable teams so the Rockets need to get it going in order to finish with one of the best seeds heading into the playoffs.

The Spurs figure to be jockeying for playoff positioning all year long so even though this game is early, it is an important one for both sides in NBA wagering.

This NBA basketball game between the Houston Rockets and San Antonio Spurs will be held at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas at 8:30 p.m ET on Saturday, November 10th, 2018. The game will be nationally televised on NBATV.

Odds Analysis

The Spurs have lost two in a row but they are still 6-4 on the season. San Antonio is usually tough at home and has won four of six games there this year.

The Rockets are just 4-6 on the year. Houston has actually gone 4-3 on the road, as a winless home schedule has been the culprit to the slow start. Even though the Spurs have the better record and the home court advantage, the Rockets have the superior track record recently, so this one could have a slight spread.

There is live betting ability for this game, which will allow wagers even after the contest has started. It is a great way to take advantage after watching some of the action and determining the flow of the game.

Injury Update

Both teams are a bit banged up. Houston’s Eric Gordon has a hip ailment which has kept him out of a few games. Check to see if he is available for this one, as Gordon is a key piece in helping out James Harden and Chris Paul on offense. Michael Carter-Williams missed Thursday’s loss to the Thunder with an illness, and it’s unknown if he will be available for this one. Carter-Williams is still trying to figure out his role with the Rockets.

San Antonio’s Rudy Gay has missed the past two games with a heel injury, and he is another player whose availability is uncertain. Gay is averaging 13.3 rebounds and 7.9 rebounds per contest. Center Pau Gasol missed the team’s most recent game against the Heat with a sore foot and also seems to be questionable for this one.

Keep an eye on all of these injuries as they could have an effect on the spread.

Player To Watch

Carmelo Anthony -- The Rockets have a superstar duo in Harden and Paul, but they need a third option on offense. Gordon has battled both injury and ineffectiveness this season, so the onus might be on Anthony. He has been coming off the bench, but if Gordon can’t play he will be the clear option as the No. 3 scorer.

Anthony isn’t the same All-Star he used to be but needs to be competent in this one.

The Spurs are tough to beat at home, but they don’t have the same dominant talent as in the past. This should be a close matchup, and some of it may come down to which team has some of their complementary players available.

If Gay and Gasol don’t play, the Spurs could be in trouble. Houston is the choice to shake off its early-season slump and nab an important road win in NBA wagering.
