Just because March Madness is here doesn’t mean the professionals will be taking a few weeks off. There is now less than one month left in the regular season, and this is the time that playoff teams are forged. The playoff teams have been largely determined, but there is still the all-important matter of seeding up for grabs. Certain teams are desperate to grab home court and get favorable match-ups, so now is not the time to take a night off.
NBA Opening Lines at BookMaker.eu
Detroit Pistons at Cleveland Cavaliers (DET -7.5, O/U 214.5)
The Pistons are looking to complete the season sweep against the Cavaliers on Monday night. Detroit has knocked off Cleveland in their three previous meetings, beating them by 7, 11, and 36. Cleveland might not have Matthew Dellavedova, Tristan Thompson, or Larry Nance Jr. available tonight.
Utah Jazz at Washington Wizards (UTAH -4, O/U 228.5)
There’s already been some action on Utah, and this line looks like it will move to 4.5 soon. The Wizards have been one of the worst road teams in the NBA, They are 8-27 outside of DC, and they haven’t beaten a Western Conference team on the road since beat Oklahoma City on January 6.
Denver Nuggets at Boston Celtics (BOS -3.5, O/U 222)
We’ve seen some movement already in this one. Boston opened as a three-point favorite, and now the Celtics are favored by 3.5, and the total has dropped a half-point from the initial line. The Nuggets have not been too sharp on the road this season with a middling 16-16 mark away from the Mile High City. Boston hasn’t been particularly great this season, but the Celtics are 26-10 at home and boast one of the best home court advantages in the league. That being said, Boston is just 14-14 against Western Conference foes.
New York Knicks at Toronto Raptors (TOR -13.5, O/U 215)
The Knicks are likely to be spent after their thrilling one-point victory over the Lakers yesterday. They went all-out to get a victory with multiple young guys stepping up, so there is likely to be a letdown affect on the road in Toronto the day after. The Raptors are 28-7 at home this year.
Miami Heat at Oklahoma City Thunder (OKC -4.5, O/U 214.5)
Russell Westbrook will be suspended for this game after picking up his 16th technical foul of the season against Golden State on Saturday, and that makes the Thunder eminently more beatable. Without him, OKC will be very dependent on Paul George to create offense.
Golden State Warriors at San Antonio Spurs (GS -2.5, O/U 224)
This will be the game of the night. Golden State is the best team in the league, but San Antonio has been the shrewdest team in the league for more than two decades. The Spurs have been lights out at the Alamodome, posting a 28-7 home record there this season, and they have won eight in a row prior to tonight’s game. Kevin Durant and DeMarcus Cousins are both questionable for the Warriors.
New Orleans Pelicans at Dallas Mavericks (DAL -4.5, O/U 230.5)
The Mavericks continue to be lights out at home, and that is likely to make this line move. Dallas is 22-13 at home this season, but this team has lost eight of its last ten coming into tonight. The Pelicans have lost six in a row though, and they have given up an average of 126.5 points in those losses.
Chicago Bulls at Phoenix Suns (PHO -3, O/U 229)
Phoenix has been the worst team in the West all season long, but the Suns are getting a little respect now. They have knocked off Golden State and Milwaukee in the last couple weeks, as DeAndre Ayton is putting up very respectable numbers as a rookie. He should get big minutes here as the Suns continue to groom him for their future.
Indiana Pacers at Portland Trail Blazers (POR -4, O/U 213)
Since Victor Oladipo went down with an injury, the Pacers have had to grit out wins with their defense. They have been a marginal team since losing Oladipo, but they are competitive night in and night out and keep games pretty low scoring. That’s why the total has dropped from 213.5 to 213 flat since it opened.
