Most of the playoff picture has come into focus, but the one last thing to be determined in the NBA is who will win the Southeast Division and whether or not the Southeast Division will end up getting multiple teams in the playoffs.
The Washington Wizards have fallen off to make this a three-team race, but the Miami Heat, Orlando Magic, and Charlotte Hornets are all playing good basketball and will make this exciting over the last few weeks. There is one game separating each team from the other, with Miami a game up on Orlando and the Magic a game up on the Hornets, with all three teams having nine games left to play.
On Sunday night, Charlotte needed a little magic to stay within striking distance. Jeremy Lamb hit a half-court shot as time expired to give the Hornets a one-point win in Toronto over the Raptors. There are only four games tonight, but we could see some more madness since we haven’t seen much in college basketball.
NBA Opening Lines at BookMaker.eu
Philadelphia 76ers at Orlando Magic (PHI -2, O/U 219)
The Sixers have not been a good road team this year, and that’s why Philadelphia is only a two-point favorite on the road against Orlando. Philly is 18-17 on the road this year, and this line has dropped from 76ers -2.5 to -2 overnight. The over/under opened at 219.5 and went up to 220 before dropping back down to 219.
This will be the fourth meeting between these two teams this year, and all three previous games have been close. Philadelphia has defeated Orlando by 1 and 8 at home, but the Magic were able to beat the Sixers by five the last time they hosted Philly.
Oklahoma City Thunder at Memphis Grizzlies (OKC -5.5, O/U 218.5)
While every other playoff team in the Western Conference has a winning record over their last 10 games, the Thunder are just 4-6 in that stretch. That has led to Oklahoma City falling down the standings, and they are now just a half-game ahead of current No. 8 seed San Antonio.
Oklahoma City has won both of its previous meetings against Memphis, but this is the first time that the Grizzlies are facing the Thunder on their home court. It hasn’t been a great year for the Grizz, but this is a team that always gives their all, and they have the second-best scoring defense in the NBA.
The total has moved down by a full point from the opening line, and there has been a little action on the Thunder, but not enough to move the line.
Phoenix Suns at Utah Jazz (UTAH -15, O/U 217.5)
The Suns are just going through the motions with a very young team. They locked up last place in the Western Conference weeks ago, but they have been dangerous when teams overlook them. Phoenix has knocked off both Golden State and Milwaukee recently, so Utah can’t take its foot of the gas pedal.
Thus far, you can’t accuse Utah of that. The Jazz have beat the Suns by 28 and 17 points in their two prior meetings this season, and they are happy to be home after a four game East Coast road swing.
Brooklyn Nets at Portland Trail Blazers (POR -6, O/U 225.5)
This is the only cross-conference game on Monday, and it features two playoff teams. Portland got the better of Brooklyn when these teams met in the Big Apple earlier in the year, and the Nets would like to even the score. Early action has been on Portland though with the juice moving on the Blazers -6. The Nets are on a long road trip, and they are looking to finish strong after consecutive wins over the Kings and Lakers.
