The Indiana Pacers have been one of the most pleasant surprises of the first half of the season, but the level of difficulty has just increased. Star forward Victor Oladipo has been lost for the rest of the year due to injury and Indiana will aim to make up for that huge absence the rest of the way.
The Pacers have a doozy of a matchup in the aftermath of the big injury as they host the defending champion Golden State Warriors. It was a rocky start for Golden State but it has since shrugged off injuries and some inconsistency to move back atop the heap in the Western Conference. The Warriors have a good chance of finishing with the NBA’s best record if they can continue this hot streak.
Golden State is on the road but will be favored to capture this matchup in NBA wagering.

The Warriors are 33-14 on the season. They have won eight consecutive games to surpass the Nuggets for first place in the Western Conference, and it’s possible they don’t move out of that spot the rest of the way. Golden State started slowly in road games but has been red-hot in hostile environments of late and is up to 15-8 away from home this year.
The Pacers have been very impressive this season with an overall record of 32-15 on the season, which is third-best in the East. Indiana has won three straight games but there is no question its high-end potential has taken a hit with the loss of Oladipo. Oladipo needs surgery on a ruptured quad tendon which he suffered early in the team’s recent game against the Raptors. It is a very serious injury and the team is hoping he won’t have any complications and will be back next year.
Oladipo was having a great year, averaging 18.8 points, 5.6 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game on the season. He shot 42.3 percent from the field and 34.3 percent from three-point range.
He did miss some time earlier in the year and the Pacers were still able to keep up their winning pace, so they hope to lean on that. Indiana was also able to beat the Raptors without Oladipo for the majority of the contest.

5. That’s the number of All-Stars dotting Golden State’s starting lineup now that DeMarcus Cousins is healthy again after missing the first half of the season with a torn Achilles. Cousins is joined by former league MVPs Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant as well as sharpshooter Klay Thompson and all-around star Draymond Green.
Cousins gives the Warriors an added element down low and Golden State has been excellent since he joined the lineup. The Pacers are good defensively but will have their hands full in this showdown against a dominant offensive team.
