NBA Odds - Oklahoma City Thunder at Golden State Warriors

There are rumors that Kevin Durant could leave the Golden State Warriors in free agency after this season. There is a long way to go until that either does or does not become reality, but just in case, let’s enjoy this season of the Warriors dynasty in case it does break up sometime soon. Golden State will tip off its regular season with a matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday.

Oklahoma City boasts one of the best players in the NBA in Russell Westbrook and hopes to be on the short list of contenders to the Warriors in the Western Conference. However, the Thunder does not have nearly the elite cast that Golden State does and will be a double-digit underdog when they face off.

As is generally the case, Westbrook will likely need to put up superhuman numbers to give his team a shot at the win. It’s not impossible because he is that good but it’s not something that is super likely in NBA live betting.

This NBA basketball game between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Golden State Warriors will be held at Oracle Arena in Oakland, California at 10:30 p.m ET on Tuesday, October 16th, 2018. The game will be nationally televised on TNT.

Odds Analysis

The Warriors are currently 11.5-point favorites to pick up this win as the oddsmakers know this is a special team no matter the location, but especially at home. Golden State will likely get to some games this season it sleepwalks through because there isn’t a bunch of motivation night in an night out, but the opener will have everybody revved up. A focused Warriors team is nearly impossible to beat, and Oklahoma City drew the short stick by having to face Golden State to begin the year.

The scoring total is listed at 224 as the Warriors have a bunch of elite scorers while the Thunder are also fine pushing the ball behind the aggressive Westbrook.

Injury Report

The Warriors will be able to boast a starting lineup full of All-Stars when free agent addition DeMarcus Cousins returns to the court. For now, though, he is still recovering from a torn Achilles suffered in January and seems several weeks away. Don’t weep for the Warriors, who still boast the outstanding quartet of Kevin Durant, Steph Curry, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson.

Matchup To Watch

Westbrook vs. Durant -- The duo used to play together for the Thunder, and they almost beat the Warriors in the playoffs in their final season together. Durant then jumped ship to join Golden State and the friendship between them dissipated. There isn’t much of a feud any longer but rest assured both players want to get the better of the other every time they go head-to-head.

The Warriors have great depth so they can afford an ordinary night from Durant, but the Thunder need Westbrook to dominate in order to have a shot at the upset.

Westbrook sometimes takes bad shots when he is too amped up, and that will be the case in this one. Unless Paul George gets hot from the field and takes over, the Warriors should be able to cruise to the victory in this matchup.
