The last Friday of the year has 10 games on the slate with every NBA team looking to close 2023 on a high note. That goes for me as well after another losing NBA parlay last week that saw me go 1-1-1. That alone is tough to do but I don’t get anything for three ones. So instead I’ll take a final crack at bringing home a winner to close the year. After briefly losing their spot at the top of the overall NBA standings the Boston Celtics recovered from an OT loss at Golden State to reel off three impressive wins to close out a four-game Western Conference swing. The Cs return home for back-to-back games looking to keep their perfect record on the parquet floor intact. Boston’s three closest pursuers in the East are also in action on Friday with the Bucks at Cleveland, Philadelphia at Houston and Orlando hosting the Knicks.
With a cover rate of 70.4 percent the Oklahoma City Thunder are the most profitable team in the Association. They’ve also been hanging around the top of Western Conference standings with a chance to make a move on the defending champion Nuggets when the teams meet in Denver. Just a few weeks ago OKC left the Mile High City after a 118-117 upset. The Phoenix Suns were expected to be a contender in the West and they still might be. Prized acquisition Bradley Beal has played just six games and is expected to be out until early January. And a loss to Dallas on Christmas was their third straight and fifth in six games dropping the Suns below .500 and out of the top 10 in the standings. They look to get back on track with a home game against the Charlotte Hornets on Friday night.

Boston looked unstoppable beating Sacramento and the LA teams to finish off a four-game road trip in style. They sport the best record in the NBA and enter a quick two-game homestand with a perfect 14-0 record inside the Garden. You don’t often see teams play back to back home games but that’s what’s facing the Celtics, who have to gear up for the Raptors after a matchup with Detroit on Thursday. Part of Boston’s success on the recent road trip was getting Kristaps Porzingis back in the lineup. A healthy Boston is scary. They will exert some energy against Detroit on Thursday night but probably not enough to concern their stars. And playing on consecutive nights wasn’t an issue in November when the Celtics hammered the Raps 117-94 one night after taking care of Brooklyn.
The return of Ja Morant has the Memphis Grizzlies trending in the right direction. In his first game since after the suspension, Morant dropped 34 on the Pelicans to help the Griz stop a five-game skid. They went on to win three more games with Morant the catalyst in each one. The swagger has returned to the Griz and the youthful group is playing like most expected. The abundance of energy will serve them well in a clash with the aging LA Clippers on Friday.

The teams have played twice already this season with the UNDER cashing in both contests.
