It’s all worthwhile when you hit a multi-team parlay like I did last week earning almost $600 on a $100 investment. I’ll try and continue the heater on Friday with a good slate of NBA games to pick from. I started out backing the Lakers at home against Toronto. Catching 3-points on the closing line LA won outright 122-112. I also took the OVER in Denver’s matchup with San Antonio. Since the Spurs are the worst defensive team in the NBA it seemed like a smart play and the clubs proved me right combing to go 20.5 points above the total. Winning the parlay came with some anxious moments in the Miami/Cleveland game. I backed the Heat as a 3-point home favorite and it didn’t look good with the Cavs taking an 89-82 lead into the fourth quarter. Jimmy Butler scored 12 points in the final frame, including two free throws with 4.2 seconds remaining giving Miami the 119-115 victory and me a winning parlay card. Let’s have a look at NBA parlay picks for Friday, March 17.

NBA Parlay Picks for Friday, March 17, 2023
Atlanta Hawks ATS / OVER
LA Lakers ATS
Boston Celtics ATS
Payout: $100 to win $595
This first pick isn’t so much about the Hawks as it is about the Warriors’ difficulties on the road. I can’t recall ever seeing a team with such drastic home/road splits and their inability to win on the road has kept the Dubs fighting just stay in the play-in discussion. Golden State is just 7-26 away from home and own the worst road cover rate in the NBA with payouts in 25 percent of their games. And the Hawks need to take advantage of that to keep their postseason hopes in the East afloat. The Hawks dropped two straight to Boston and Minnesota falling a game below .500.
Backing the Hawks on the line is the right move and so is taking the OVER since both teams surrender a lot of points. The Warriors allow more than 10 points per game on the road than they do at home and the Hawks rank in the bottom third of the NBA in points allowed and field goal percentage defense. The teams played a barnburner in the first meeting with the Dubs eking out a 143-141 win in double overtime cashing the OVER in a third straight game and fourth in five meetings.
Things haven’t quite gone according to plan for the Dallas Mavericks. The acquisition of Kyrie Irving to pair with Luka Doncic was designed to give the club a 1-2 punch to compete in the congested Western Conference. That still might be the case when the playoffs roll around, if Dallas is even in the picture at that time. With Irving and Doncic missing time, the Mavs have struggled with Monday’s setback to Memphis their third straight and ninth in 12 games. The Lakers, meanwhile, climbed into the top-10 in the West winning seven of nine games and appear to be coming together with deadline acquisitions Rui Hachimura and Jarred Vanderbilt providing significant minutes.
Lastly, I’m not about to give up on the Celtics even after a loss to lowly Houston on Monday, their fourth setback in six games. Instead I expect Boston to use that as a wakeup call, something they’ve been able to do most of the season. Streaks of losses have always been followed with some great play orchestrated by the duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. And Portland has sunk deeper in the West losing three straight games with the white flag about to be raised. I’ll back the road team with a deeper lineup and bench on my NBA parlay card.
