With the NBA’s in-season tournament coming to a close this weekend with the championship game on Saturday, the rest of the league will take a few days off. However, things ramp back up on Monday, December 11 with 13 games on the schedule to get fans back in the betting mode. Two surprising teams in the West are in action with the Timberwolves visiting New Orleans. Minnesota took over the top spot in the conference by winning 14 of 16 games. Oklahoma City is right behind boasting the best scoring differential in the conference. The Thunder hosts Utah on Monday night. The East-leading Celtics have the day off but their closest pursuers are in action. Philadelphia hosts Washington and the Bucks entertain Chicago.
Had I bet the moneyline on my last two NBA parlays I’d be riding a massive heater right now. Unfortunately I didn’t and I’m not. For the second straight week my picks against the spread won but failed to cover. Last Friday I backed Orlando at home laying 10.5-points to Washington. Though they are the most profitable team in the NBA with 15 payouts in 20 games, the Magic failed to cover in this one. I also had Boston at home against Philly in an Eastern Conference showdown. Playing without Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey, the line soared to Boston -10.5. The Celtics needed a fourth quarter rally to win 125-119. I avoided the ohfer when the Denver/Phoenix matchup went OVER the total the closing total. Maybe I’ll have better luck on a different day.

Indiana / Detroit OVER
Atlanta ATS
LA Clippers ATS
Bet $100 to win $609
Let’s see, Detroit has a hard time defending and the Pacers lead the NBA in scoring. That adds up to plenty of points, but will it be enough to cash the OVER? Oddsmakers have caught up with Indiana’s high-powered attack but I still like them to put up big numbers. Indiana rolled to a 136-113 win over the Pistons just a few weeks ago and last week dropped 144 on the Heat, which was only their third-highest scoring game of the season. The Pacers played OVER the total 16 times in their first 18 games and they’ll do it again on Monday.
They are the defending champs but the Nuggets have struggled in road games. They won the title despite a sub-.500 record in away games and the trend has continued. They are just 5-7 SU in their first 12 road games this season while going 3-9 ATS. The Hawks are in the middle of a stretch playing nine of 11 games on the road. This is one of those home contests, though, and the club will take advantage. Actually, they need to since they dropped four of their last five on their home court and Denver will likely be without Jamal Murray, who recently went back on the shelf with an ankle injury.
The Clippers opened the season with a home win and cover over the Trail Blazers and they showed some fight overcoming a 23-point deficit to beat the Warriors over the weekend. They’re still a work in progress with their new lineup but they appear to be trending in the right direction with six wins in nine games. The Blazers have struggled offensively scoring less than 100 points in seven of their first 19 games and averaging the fewest points in the NBA. Their lack of offense will allow the Clippers to cover the line.
