With a limited schedule to compete with the NFL on Super Bowl Sunday, the NBA offers up an abundant slate of games on Saturday, Feb. 10 with 22 teams competing. The NBA also makes a return to primetime network television with the Western Conference tilt between the Phoenix Suns and Golden State Warriors airing at 8:30 p.m. ET on ABC. The schedule covers most of the day starting with an afternoon tip in Dallas between the OKC Thunder and Mavs and concluding with a late-night Western Conference affair featuring New Orleans and Portland. There is something for everyone to build a winning NBA parlay.
Backing OKC against the spread the last two weeks was a good move with the Thunder getting a pair of cover wins. That’s not unusual for them since they have the second-best cover rate in the NBA at 62 percent, but they are just 1-5 ATS after a 124-117 upset loss to Utah. The team with the best cover rate is Orlando, which is hosting Chicago on Saturday. The three hottest teams in the NBA are all in action the day before SB LVIII. Sporting the best record in the Association since Dec. 1, the LA Clippers host Detroit. Winners in 15 of 16 games the Cavaliers visit Toronto, and the New York Knicks, winners in 16 of 19 games since Jan. 1, entertain Indiana.

I experienced the most frustrating NBA parlay loss of the season last week. It’s always a bummer when your picks don’t come through, but losing two games the way I did had me extremely pissed. First, I backed the Clippers -11.5 in their game at Detroit. The Pistons got the payout by half a point losing 136-125. I also backed the UNDER on a total of 213 in the Minnesota-Orlando contest. The Magic won 108-106, ouch. At least OKC prevented a winless week covering the 15.5-point line in a 126-06 win over Charlotte.
Do I dare go back to the Clippers-Pistons rematch? I think I will, backing the Clips again. Coming off a 6-1 road trip LA lost to New Orleans on Wednesday. They say the first home game after a lengthy trip is always the hardest and LA proved that. With that out of the way the Clips can get back to winning against the NBA’s worst team.
Playing as a road underdog the Magic registered consecutive wins over Chicago back in November. The teams meet in Orlando this time with the Magic 14-7 on their home floor with payouts in two-thirds of those games. They’ve slumped a bit since a torrid start, but the Magic are a playoff contender bolstered by two former No. 1 overall picks in Paolo Banchero and Markelle Fultz. They had a string of five straight payouts stopped by Miami on Tuesday but overall they are the most profitable team in the NBA.
Pacific Division rivals Phoenix and Golden State historically play high-scoring games leaving me to back the OVER in Saturday’s tilt. The Suns are clicking with their three stars in the lineup. Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal recently combined to score 75 percent of the teams points in a win over Milwaukee. And the Suns are 3-0 SU and ATS this season with six of the last seven games cashing the OVER.
