The Golden State Warriors might finally be hitting their groove. After a slower-than-expected start, the Warriors have started playing well of late and are now within shouting distance of overtaking the Nuggets for the top seed in the West. Golden State will aim to stay hot when it hosts the New Orleans Pelicans this week.
New Orleans need to make up some ground in order to make the playoffs so an upset win here would be a big boost. It’s not going to be easy or expected. Golden State is the superior team and has the home court, which will make it the heavy favorite in NBA odds.
This NBA basketball game between the New Orleans Pelicans and Golden State Warriors will be held at Oracle Arena in Oakland, California at 10:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday, January 16th, 2019. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN.

Odds Analysis
The Pelicans have a record of 20-23 on the season. They have been fantastic at home but have really struggled on the road. New Orleans has won just five of 22 games on the road this year.
The Warriors are 29-14 on the season. They have won four consecutive games to pull to a tie with Denver in the standings, trailing only because of percentage points. Golden State has had issues on the road this year but is 17-6 at home and will be expected to add another victory in this one.
Golden State and New Orleans are two of the highest-scoring teams in the NBA so the scoring total on this one will be larger than normal in NBA gambling.
Key Stat
48. That’s the number of points Warriors star guard Stephen Curry scored last time out in a win over the Mavericks. He hit 17-of-32 shots from the field and sank 11-of-19 from three-point range. Curry is averaging 28.8 points per game, shooting 48.7 percent from the field and 44.3 percent from three-point range.
Curry is adding 5.6 assists, 5.2 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game. He has been one of the most efficient scorers in the NBA this season and the Pelicans will need to keep him in check. If Curry dominates this one from downtown, New Orleans will be in a lot of trouble.
Player To Watch
Anthony Davis -- The Pelicans’ only real hope is if their superstar center finds a way to take over this game. Davis is one of the most talented players in the NBA, but his team is under .500 because the supporting cast is weak.
The Warriors not only have Curry but Kevin Durant, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson. Golden State is also getting All-Star forward DeMarcus Cousins back from injury next week.
So Davis has his work cut out for him, but will aim to keep his team in the game. He is averaging 28.9 points, 13.3 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per game. Davis is shooting 51.2 percent from the field on the year and would like to improve on that number to become more efficient.
Free NBA ATS Picks
While Davis is a dominant player the Pelicans have precious little talent around him. The Warriors are on a winning streak and get this game at home. New Orleans may be able to be more competitive than expected but Golden State is the pick to win. Check to see where the spread comes in for this one in order to decide if the Pelicans make sense to cover in NBA gambling.
NBA ATS Pick: Golden State Warriors 126, New Orleans Pelicans 117
