The two most important races over the last couple weeks of the NBA season feature teams at the opposite ends of the spectrum. Golden State and Denver are currently battling it out for the top spot in the Western Conference. Both teams are 51-24 with a three-game lead on third-place Portland, and the race for home court advantage out West continues to be surprisingly even.
The other important race is out East. A couple weeks ago, the Southeast Division race involved four teams, but we are down to a big two now with Miami and Orlando duking it out for the division title. Both teams have looked sharp in recent weeks, and there’s a chance both make the playoffs with the struggles of both Detroit and Brooklyn.

Cleveland Cavaliers at Los Angeles Clippers (LAC -10, O/U 228.5)
We’re at the point of the season where we’re going to see ridiculous spreads as some teams have everything to play for, and others have nothing to play for. The Clippers have a decent chance at ending up as the No. 5 seed in the Western Conference, while Cleveland has the third-worst record in the league. This is an early start time out West so drowsiness could be a factor early.
Boston Celtics at Brooklyn Nets (BOS -1.5, O/U 228.5)
People continue to believe in Boston even though there are major problems with this team. The Celtics are now road favorites against the Nets even though they played a game Indiana squad that plays great defense last night and will be dealing with a bit of fatigue. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Brooklyn close as a short favorite.
Sacramento Kings at Houston Rockets (HOU -10, O/U 227.5)
The Kings seem to be pretty disappointed after it became clear they wouldn’t make the playoffs. They have now lost to the Pelicans and the Lakers, and they are playing on the road once more Saturday night. Meanwhile, Houston has its eyes on the No. 3 seed as the Rockets are just a half-game behind Portland. This line could creep up, and the total could rise too.
Portland Trail Blazers at Detroit Pistons (DET -5, O/U 215)
Portland is currently in the No. 3 hole in the East, but the Blazers are big underdogs tonight. This is a difficult game for them as they were in Atlanta last night and made the long trek to the Motor City for tonight’s tilt. That fatigue will give Detroit an edge.
Orlando Magic at Indiana Pacers (IND -2.5, O/U 204.5)
The Magic haven’t been good on the road this season with a 14-23 record away from Orlando, but Indiana played on the road in Boston last night. That makes them more live than they would normally be.
Miami Heat at New York Knicks (MIA -5.5, O/U 209)
Miami is one of the few teams in the league with a better road record than home record, and the Heat are favored to keep their lead over Orlando in Madison Square Garden. The Knicks are close to securing the most ping pong balls, and they will want to keep that.
Toronto Raptors at Chicago Bulls (TOR -11, O/U 219.5)
There’s surprising little to play for with both teams. Toronto is a massive road favorite even though the Raptors are essentially locked into the No. 2 seed, and I think we will see a lot of sharp action on Chicago as a result.
Philadelphia 76ers at Minnesota Timberwolves (PHI -4.5, O/U 231)
This game could have some fireworks. Jimmy Butler is making his return to Minnesota, and the Timberwolves are riding high after beating Golden State in overtime last night. The crowd will be a huge factor here, and we should see some line movement.
Memphis Grizzlies at Phoenix Suns (MEM -1.5, O/U 219)
Who would have thought the game with the most movement would have been the one between the two worst teams in the West? Phoenix was originally a one-point favorite in this game, but the line quickly flipped to make the Grizzlies a short road favorite. The total has dropped a point too.
