The Nuggets have a record of 30-14 on the season. While other teams have bigger individual names, Denver has been the most consistent team besides Golden State in the West this year. The Nuggets have done most of their damage at home but are a decent 11-10 on the road. They would love to improve on that in this one.
The Jazz has a mark of 26-21 on the season. They started slowly at home but have now won 13 of 21 games there, and that winning percentage figures to keep climbing. Utah would get a boost from capturing this contest.
Denver and Utah have two of the better defenses in the NBA, so don’t be surprised if the scoring total is lower than most games in NBA wagering.
Injury Report
There was a recent report suggesting Denver point guard Isaiah Thomas would be back in a few weeks, but that was shot down by Nuggets coach Michael Malone. Thomas could be a key addition whenever he does return to the court. He is averaging 15.2 points and 4.8 assists per game on the season, although his shooting percentage sits at only 37.3 from the field and 29 percent from three-point range.
While there is some mystery about when Thomas will return, he certainly won’t be available for this game. Even so, the Nuggets have been fine without him and are not anxiously waiting for his return because Thomas is a complementary piece at this point.
Key Stat
6. That’s the number of victories in a row for Utah, which has helped it make a push up the standings. The Jazz are hoping to follow a similar script as last year, when they went on a tear in the second half of the season.
Utah began this streak by knocking off the Magic, Lakers, Bulls and Pistons at home. The Jazz hit the road and picked up a win over the Clippers and then returned home and won easily over the Cavaliers. The schedule has certainly been favorable with multiple games against inferior competition, and Utah has made sure to take advantage.
This game will be much tougher than most of those.
