NBA Spreads - Golden State Warriors at New York Knicks

The Golden State Warriors are the best team in the NBA. The New York Knicks are one of the worst. Their matchup this week may not be super competitive.

The Warriors are off to a 4-1 record on the season as they take aim at yet another championship. It seems like it is going to be another long year for the Knicks, who seem to be in the midst of a perpetual rebuild.

Even on the road Golden State is going to be a huge favorite. The Warriors should win this game no problem but if they aren’t totally motivated it wouldn’t be a surprise if the Knicks come away with the cover in NBA gambling.

This NBA basketball game between the Golden State Warriors and New York Knicks will be held at Madison Square Garden in New York, New York at 7:30 p.m ET on Thursday, October 26th, 2018. The game will be nationally televised on NBA TV.

Odds Analysis

The spread has yet to be released but the Warriors could come in favored by double digits even on the road. The Knicks have started the year only 1-4, although they did lose two of those games to the Celtics and Nets by only a bucket. New York’s lone win thus far came against the Hawks.

Golden State is coming off a dominant win over the Wizards. The Warriors’ lone loss on the season came by a bucket to the Denver Nuggets on the road. Look for the Warriors to be favored and for the scoring total to be quite high as both sides will be happy to push the ball up and down the court in NBA gambling.

There is live betting capability for this matchup, which should be intriguing. If the Warriors aren’t focused early it could be valuable to bet on them underachieving on the ever-changing spread.

Key Stat

51. That’s the number of points Steph Curry put up against Washington. He was on fire from the field, hitting 15-of-24 overall and 11-of-16 from downtown. Curry is now fifth all-time in three-point makes in NBA history as he is arguably the best shooter the game has ever produced.

Curry added four rebounds and three assists but his elite skill has always been scoring and it was plainly evident in this one. The Knicks don’t have anyone who can stop him, so they are going to need to hope Curry has an off night. He has won the MVP twice in the past, and while it won’t be easy to do so again with so many talented teammates, nights like this will keep him in the conversation.

Player To Watch

Tim Hardaway, Jr. -- The Knicks are short on impact talent, but one player who has taken a nice step toward stardom is the 26-year-old guard. Hardaway, Jr. is averaging 27 points per game on the season, which is 15 more than his career average.

That scoring number is likely going to come down but Hardaway is certainly off to a nice start. The Warriors push the ball so much that he could put up big numbers in this one.

Free NBA ATS Picks

The only reason this one will be close is if the Warriors aren’t tuned in mentally and sleepwalk through the contest. New York’s best player, big man Kristaps Porzingis, is still recovering from a torn ACL and won’t play.

Golden State has the four best players on the court, and that quartet of Curry, Kevin Durant, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson should lead the way to an easy win on the road. The Knicks simply do not have the firepower to keep up. Keep an eye to see where the spread comes in. The “over” seems like a definite possibility as this one could be a defense-optional type matchup in NBA live betting.
