NBA Spreads - Oklahoma City Thunder at Detroit Pistons

The Oklahoma City Thunder began the season slowly but has been able to turn it on of late. They are in a big mix of teams near the top of the Western Conference, just a game back of the Clippers and Warriors. The Thunder believes it has as good of a chance as anyone to give Golden State a run for its money in the playoffs.

Oklahoma City needs to get as high of a seed as possible so every regular season game is important. They will hit the road this week to face off against the Detroit Pistons. The Pistons have played better than projected thus far and would love to defend their home court in this one and improve their positioning in the standings.

Oklahoma City has a slightly better record and the oddsmakers believe they will be a slight favorite despite being on the road in this contest in NBA gambling.

Odds Analysis

The Thunder is 13-7 overall on the year and 5-4 on the road this year. Oklahoma City has won seven of its past 10 games and will look to stay hot in this matchup.

The Detroit Pistons have done a nice job this year with a record of 11-7. They have won seven of their 10 games at home this year and another victory would be welcomed. Oklahoma City is averaging 110 points per game and Detroit 111, so there shouldn’t be much surprise in where the scoring total comes in.

Key Stat

7. That’s the number of wins for Detroit in its past nine games as this team has vaulted itself near the top of the Eastern Conference standings. The Pistons began this streak with back-to-back wins over the Hawks and Magic. Detroit lost a game to the Hornets but picked up a big win against the Raptors to kick off a two-game winning streak. The Pistons lost a close one to the Rockets but are currently winners of three in a row. They have knocked off the Rockets, Suns and Knicks in succession.

The Pistons’ offense has picked up during this streak and if they are able to come away with some big buckets a small upset could be on deck. However, Detroit will have to make sure to slow down Oklahoma City’s offense, which can also score at a prolific pace.

Player To Watch

Russell Westbrook -- The best player on the floor will be the Thunder’s star point guard. Westbrook is averaging 23.2 points, 10.3 rebounds and 9.8 assists per contest. Westbrook recently tied Jason Kidd for the third-most triple-doubles in NBA history with 107 and is capable of doing so in every game.

The Pistons will likely throw multiple defenders at Westbrook throughout the game but it will still be a tall task slowing him down because he is such a talented player. He does tend to shoot poorly from the field at times and that would be a win for Detroit.

Free NBA ATS Picks

Oklahoma City has a star duo in Westbrook and Paul George but Detroit’s team-wide efficiency stands out. The Pistons are at home and while they may be the underdog in this matchup, look for a victory. This could be a close and entertaining game from start to finish. Look for the “over” to hit on the scoring total in NBA betting lines.
