NBA Spreads - Philadelphia 76ers at Detroit Pistons

It is no surprise to see the Philadelphia 76ers near the top of the Eastern Conference standings. It was not expected for the Detroit Pistons to be right behind them in the standings. Detroit has looked good on the young season and a win over Philly this week would be another big boost. The 76ers are the more talented team but on the road so this one could be a competitive matchup.

Detroit has been good at home this year and the result of this one could help show if the Pistons are legitimately among the best in the East in NBA betting.

Odds Analysis

The Pistons have started the year with a 13-9 record. They have won nine of 14 games at home on the year. Detroit has played well of late to move up to No. 4 in the current Eastern Conference standings.

The 76ers are 17-8 and are playing well after a slow start. They have won four consecutive games and eight of their past 10. Philadelphia made a bold trade for Jimmy Butler a few weeks back and he has given them a nice boost. The 76ers are just 4-7 on the road this season and will need to improve on that mark if they have any hope of catching the Raptors or Bucks in the East.

Both of these teams score at a nice rate so the total could be high. There is a live betting option available for this matchup, which allows gamblers to wager on the game after it begins in NBA odds.

Injury Report

Philadelphia guard Markelle Fultz was diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrome, which will keep him out for three to six weeks. Fultz has been dealing with shoulder problems for a long time and it has totally affected his shooting. There was some question as to whether it was a mental hurdle but it seems like it was a physical ailment.

Fultz is the former no. 1 overall pick. The 76ers have been good without him but could be great if he is able to get healthy and live up to his potential. Fultz won’t be available for this game or in the foreseeable future. However, he has not made an impact this year and the 76ers have still won a bunch of games.

Player To Watch

Andre Drummond -- The Detroit big man is having a huge season, affecting the game greatly on both sides of the court. He is averaging 18.3 points, 15.9 rebounds, 1.76 blocks and 1.38 steals per contest. Drummond is shooting 52.1 percent from the field and will aim to have a good game in this one.

He has a tough matchup against Philadelphia big man Joel Embiid, who is one of the more skilled centers in the NBA. If Drummond can force Embiid into tough shots, it will give the Pistons a great chance at coming away with this win.

The 76ers are very talented but road games have been a problem for this young group. The Pistons acquired Blake Griffin last season and are starting to take off with him and Drummond leading the way. Detroit isn’t truly in that upper echelon of teams in the East but should get the home victory in this matchup.

This one is going to be more of a defensive battle than expected, so roll with the “under” on the scoring total. Don’t forget about the live betting options at the sportsbook in NBA gambling.
