NBA Thursday Opening Line Report

Over half the teams in the NBA will be in action on Thursday as there are less than two weeks left in the regular season. If you’re an East Coast basketball fan, you’re loving the action today, as there are no games after 8:30 p.m. ET. You’ll be able to watch and wager on all eight games tonight and be in bed by midnight for a great start to your Friday.

NBA Opening Lines at BookMaker.eu

Orlando Magic at Detroit Pistons (DET -3.5, O/U 206.5)

A huge road win over Miami in the second part of a back-to-back on Tuesday put Orlando in position to make the playoffs. The Magic are now a half-game up on Miami for the final playoff spot, and they can move a half-game ahead of Detroit with a win over the Pistons tonight. The early action is on the Pistons though as Orlando is playing three games in four days.

Brooklyn Nets at Philadelphia 76ers (PHI –8. O/U 227.5)

The total here has gone up one point since the line opened. There is a bit of a motivation question for Philadelphia. The 76ers are likely to end the season in third place in the Eastern Conference, while Brooklyn are just 1.5 games ahead of Miami for a spot in the playoffs. This is currently slated to be the first round match-up in the Eastern Conference Playoffs.

Dallas Mavericks at Miami Heat (MIA -7.5, O/U 208.5)

If Miami is going to make the playoffs, this is a must-win game for the Heat. Dallas has been awful on the road this season with a 7-30 road record (although they hammered Golden State in Oracle Arena a few days ago), and Miami is just a half-game behind Orlando. The Heat have a losing home record at home though.

Toronto Raptors at New York Knicks (TOR -11.5, O/U 216.5)

The Knicks are almost locked into dead last, but with Phoenix just a loss behind them in their bid to finish with the most ping pong balls at the NBA Draft Lottery, they can’t stop losing just yet. This one might not be as onesided as you might think though. The Raptors are on the road, and they are essentially locked into the No. 2 seed, so staying healthy is the main concern. That has led to the total and spread dropping a half-point each.

Los Angeles Clippers at Milwaukee Bucks (MIL -9, O/U 232.5)

Sharps believe in this Milwaukee Bucks team. The Bucks opened as an 8.5-point favorite, and the spread has moved up a half-point. They have nearly locked up the top spot in the NBA during the regular season and with that home court advantage throughout the postseason. Meanwhile, the Clippers just locked up a playoff spot on Tuesday night.

Denver Nuggets at Houston Rockets (HOU -5, O/U 217.5)

How many points can James Harden put up on Denver? Harden has been on a tear over the last couple months of the season, but he hasn’t had the best numbers in three previous games against the Nuggets. That has Denver looking like a lively dog here as they attempt to ensure a top-two finish in the West.

Sacramento Kings at New Orleans Pelicans (SAC -2.5, O/U 239)

The total has gone up a half-point since this line opened. Neither team has anything to play for now that the Kings are essentially eliminated from the postseason, but Sacramento might be motivated to finish better than .500, while the Pelicans are sitting a number of their players tonight.

Cleveland Cavaliers at San Antonio Spurs (SAS -13, O/U 218)

San Antonio Spurs is close to a playoff berth for the 22nd straight season, and now the Spurs are looking to ensure they don’t play Golden State in the first round. They are massive favorites against Cleveland at home tonight, where they have been unstoppable.
