Some of the best teams in the Western Conference are in action on Wednesday night. The Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets, and Oklahoma City Thunder are considered the three favorites out West, and those three teams are currently jockeying for position. Golden State has the inside track on the No. 1 seed entering the playoffs, but the Thunder and Rockets have a great chance to grab the No. 2 seed.
NBA Opening Lines at BookMaker.eu
Orlando Magic at Washington Wizards (WAS -2.5, O/U 224)
The Southeast Division is up for grabs, and there are just 3.5 games separating the top four teams in the division. Miami is currently in line to grab the top spot in the division and earn a postseason berth, but Orlando is right behind them and Washington is within striking distance too.
Washington has one of the worst defenses in the NBA, but the Wizards have been rock solid at home. They are 20-12 in D.C. this season, and they just knocked off a decent Sacramento team here two days ago. Their route to the playoffs largely depends on them holding serve at home.
Brooklyn Nets at Oklahoma City Thunder (OKC -7.5, O/U 229)
This will be Russell Westbrook’s first game since getting in a heated altercation with a Utah fan on Monday. Westbrook was only fined by the league after video determined that the Jazz fan said some pretty offensive stuff to elicit that type of reaction, and he will be plenty motivated to turn attention back to his play on the court.
Barring a hot streak to end the year, Westbrook is on pace to average a triple-double despite shooting less than 30 percent from beyond the arc. However, he and Paul George have been great on defense, and George is on pace to finish in the top three in MVP voting with the most impressive season of his career.
Memphis Grizzlies at Atlanta Hawks (ATL -1, O/U 221)
Trae Young has been exhilarating to watch. The former Oklahoma point guard set college basketball on fire with his play last season, and he has started to find his stride in the NBA.
Atlanta knows its in the middle of a rebuild, and the Hawks have been content to let him run the show and learn by experience. They have become one of the most fun teams, as they have turned every game into a free-flowing track meet, and each of their last 10 games have seen 225 points or more scored. That is quite different from Memphis, the lowest-scoring team in the league, that is known for its defense.
Detroit Pistons at Miami Heat (MIA -1.5, O/U 210)
There has already been some movement with this line. The Heat opened as a two-point favorite, and that line has come down some. The bigger movement has been with regards to the total. The over/under here opened at 212.5, but it has fallen 2.5 points from the overnight line thus far.
Golden State Warriors at Houston Rockets (HOU -2, O/U 232.5)
No line has moved more than this one so far. While the spread has yet to budge, the total has taken off, moving four points since it opened at 228.5. That is probably due to the strategies that Golden State is likely to play with Kevin Durant sitting out tonight after injuring his ankle against Phoenix on Sunday. The Warriors are more likely to run and gun and shoot a lot of threes without one of the best big men in the league.
Utah Jazz at Phoenix Suns (UTAH -7.5, O/U 222.5)
These are games the Jazz hasn’t been losing on their recent run. Utah is a hard-nosed defensive team that doesn’t take nights off, so this line could rise as Phoenix has been the worst defense in the West.
