It might not be the best division in the NBA but the Atlantic has to have the most drama and dysfunction. And for a change the New York Knicks aren’t involved. However, in many ways they still are the Knickerbockers. Following a promising start to the season they dropped four of five games, including a contest with Boston where they allowed a team record 27 three-pointers. To relieve themselves of the Kyrie Irving situation the Nets are finding solace on the court. Under interim coach Jacque Vaughn they put together their first winning streak of the season beating Washington and Charlotte on the road.
The contest between the New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets takes place at 7:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, from Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY will air live on ESPN. BookMaker.eu will have odds for every game on the Wednesday NBA schedule.

Odds Analysis
It was a bittersweet weekend for the Knicks. On Friday they ended a three-game losing streak winning in Philadelphia as a 1.5-point dog for their first payout in five games. Facing another division opponent on Saturday, the defense crumbled in a 133-118 loss to the Celtics allowing 27 three-pointers. With the setback the Knicks dropped to 4-5 SU and ATS. The run against division foes continues with the Knicks looking to end a seven-game skid to the Nets.
It’s as if controversy and the Nets are roommates. The James Harden deal and Kyrie’s vaccination status were issues last season and Irving is again in the middle of things getting suspended by the team. And there was the firing of Steve Nash after a 2-5 SU and 1-6 ATS start. With all that’s going on you might expect the team to fold, instead the Nets strung a few wins together closing the week with their first winning streak. They’ve been one of the worst bets in the NBA going 2-7-1 ATS in their first 10 games.
New York Knicks
A few weeks into the season and we’re still trying to figure the Knicks out. They started the year on a roll winning three of their first four games behind an offense that averaged nearly 123 points. They then went the next four games not scoring more than 108 points. The offense came around a bit on Saturday however the defense was a big letdown in the loss to Boston. Defense was a problem last year and something Tom Thibodeau vowed to work on. Well, after nine games it’s safe to say the Knicks need more work. They allow an average of 116 points and rank 17th in defensive rating. The OVER went 6-3 through their first nine contests.
The Knicks have failed to show up for games against stiffer competition. All four wins are against teams with a current losing record while they are 0-5 SU and 1-4 ATS against teams above .500. The Nets have a losing record coming into this matchup so there’s hope for the Knickerbockers, but they’ve struggled to beat their cross town rival losing seven in a row and 11 of the previous 13 meetings.
Brooklyn Nets
If not for Kevin Durant it’s scary to think where the Nets would be right now. Irving was handed a minimum five-game suspension and Ben Simmons has missed games with injury and the Nets were still able to post back-to-back wins. KD is averaging 31.5 points and the team showed its diversity with a comeback win over Charlotte after blowing out the Wizards 128-86 on Friday. “I think we rallied around each other. It’s been a tough week for us and it’s good just to get back to the game,” Durant said after scoring 27 points against the Hornets.
Other players are getting an opportunity and they are stepping up. Used sparingly and with only two points in the first eight games, Cam Thomas played nearly 32 minutes with 17 points against the Wizards. He followed that with a 21-point game against the Hornets helping to fill the void in the backcourt. Nick Claxton added 11 points and nine rebounds in the Charlotte game. The Nets are missing a big chunk of offense cashing the UNDER in four straight to close the week.
NBA Odds Pick
Could the Nets actually be better without Irving? Was Nash the problem on the bench? It’s too early to tell but the results have been there. A lot of things are going against them, though. Simmons could be back bolstering the backcourt, but controversy surrounding the Nets will eventually catch up and they’re bound to lose some time.
