Who do you think will have the most triple-doubles in the NBA this season? BookMaker has put up odds on which player will finish with the most triple-doubles for the 2019-2010 season, with Houston’s James Harden the favorite at odds of +225. His new teammate, Russell Westbrook is the second choice at odds of +250, while LeBron James is third in the betting at odds of +633. Let’s analyze the odds and look at some facts to consider on this NBA prop.
Who Will Have More Triple-Doubles for the 2019-2020 NBA Regular Season?
James Harden +225
Russell Westbrook +250
LeBron James +633
Anthony Davis +913
Kawhi Leonard +1684
Paul George +3468
Field (Any Other Player) +311
There has been some line movement on this prop since it opened, with some action on Westbrook, as he opened at +300 and the current price is down to +250. Bettors are also taking the field, as the field opened with odds of +600 and the current odds are down to +311. The odds on James, Davis, Leonard and George have all gone up, as bettors are not keen so far to bet on any of those players.
Last Year’s Numbers
Russell Westbrook led the league with 34 triple-doubles last season. That number was far and away the leader, as his closest competition was Nikola Jokic with 12 triple-doubles. Ben Simmons had 10 triple-doubles, while Luka Doncic and LeBron James had 8. This year’s favorite, James Harden had 7 triple-doubles, but oddsmakers are expecting him to do more with Westbrook as a teammate.
Analyzing the Odds
You can make a strong case that Harden is completely overvalued at his current number. Oddsmakers think that the addition of Westbrook will help Harden, but Harden has never been a great rebounder and it seems highly unlikely he is going to lead the league in triple-doubles this season. Westbrook won’t have to do it all as he did in Oklahoma City, but bettors seem to be thinking he is still going to put up big numbers and there is no question he is capable of dominating on a regular basis. It would not be surprising to see Westbrook favored in this prop before long.
There doesn’t seem to be much love for any of the other individual players, as there has been little action on LeBron, Davis, Leonard or George. The interesting choice in this prop is the field, as there are some other players who could lead the league in triple-doubles. The most obvious choice is New Orleans rookie Zion Williamson, who seems more than capable of putting up triple-doubles on a regular basis. Ja Morant will be expected to deliver on a nightly basis for the Memphis Grizzlies and last year he was the first player in the NCAA Tournament to record a triple-double since Draymond Green in 2012.
The field will also include Dallas’ Luka Doncic and keep in mind that Doncic could put even better numbers this season, as he will get a new teammate in Kristaps Porzingis who will be playing his first full season with the Mavericks. If you bet the field you also get Jokic and Simmons and each player put up more triple-doubles last season than Harden. Betting the field would have been a lot more attractive at odds of +600, but there could still be some value at odds of +300.
