We said goodbye to a number of characters after the third episode of the final season of Game of Thrones. Dolorous Edd was the first to die, but not long after that fan favorite Lyanna Mormont met her end. Beric Dondarrion died (for good this time), and Jorah Mormont and Theon Greyjoy shuffled off their mortal coils too. The most meaningful deaths though were those of Melisandre and The Night King. With the latter presumably vanquished, we can turn our attention from the battle between the living and the dead to more conventional matters over the final few episodes.

Cersei Lannister +900

Samwell Tarly +2500
Euron Greyjoy +3300

Jaime Lannister +5000

He wasn’t the hero of the Battle of Winterfell, but Jon Snow is the favorite to rule Westeros at the end of the series. Jon Snow inspires confidence and has a claim to the Iron Throne, yet I wouldn’t bet on him at these odds. He appears to want no part of ruling Westeros, and to be fair he has not proven to be very astute when put in charge of large numbers of people.
There are plenty of reasons to doubt the chances of the rest of the favorites too. Sansa appears to want to rule the North, and I’d be surprised if she left the region in the final three episodes. Tyrion Lannister doesn’t have a good claim and is best served as an advisor, and Gendry is well…Gendry.
At these odds, I like one of the favorites coming into the year. Daenerys looked like the strongest contender for the Iron Throne coming into the season, and she still appears to have her two dragons from the trailer for the fourth episode. It also appears that the Northerners may have finally accepted her, so I’ll take a chance on her at +800.
Who Will Kill Cersei Lannister?
Jaime Lannister +150
Arya Stark +250
Field +400
Tyrion Lannister +500
Cersei Lives +600
Sansa Stark +600
Daenerys Targaryen +750
Brienne +1200
The Hound +1400
Now that we have had a number of characters die, let’s turn to another prop that has been gaining steam over the weeks. Cersei Lannister still rules Westeros, and with the heroes turning to face her armies in the remaining episodes, she is likely to fall at some point by the end of the series.
Jaime is the favorite to kill Cersei, and there would be some poetic justice there. Jaime has been dismissively referred to as the Kingslayer throughout the series, and he could come full circle by becoming a Queenslayer too. He left Cersei on bad terms, and his sister has plotted to kill him. Jaime overcame the odds that saw him considered likely to be the first person to die, so he could do the deed.
There is a lot of speculation that Arya will be the one to kill Cersei, and her odds have fallen. Arya is looking for an encore after slaying The Night King, and Cersei is one of the few names left on her kill list. Melisandre may have hinted that she will be the one to kill Cersei in the last episode too, by telling her that she would kill people with blue eyes (The Night King) and green eyes (potentially Cersei).
Tyrion is the third named favorite on the list, and that’s largely a nod to the books. Maggy the Frog prophesized that Cersei would be choked to death by the valonqar, and all of Maggy’s predictions have come true to this point. The word valonqar is High Valyrian for little brother, and that is seen as a reference to Tyrion.
