Tampa Bay Bandits at Houston Gamblers – 3 p.m. – FOX
The Bandits opened as a -1.5-point favorite with a total of 39. The money line has Tampa Bay at -125 with Houston at +105.
Last week the Bandits were shellshocked in a 34-3 loss to the New Orleans Breakers as 2.5-point favorites. Meanwhile, the Gamblers lost to the Birmingham Stallions 33-28 as 3-point dogs. Both of these teams have records of 1-1.
The Gamblers were sloppy in their loss last week. The big problem was quarterback Clayton Thorson, who finished 13-27 for 141 yards passing with two touchdowns and three devastating interceptions. Thorson was the difference-maker in the worst possible way.
Tampa Bay was one of the most impressive teams in week one. However, they gave back the goodwill in the second week's debacle against New Orleans. Quarterback Jordan Ta’amu had a setback game after a strong opener.
In a difficult matchup to handicap, opposing Thorson makes the most sense.

Birmingham Stallions at New Orleans Breakers – 7 p.m. – FOX
The Breakers opened as a -3.5-point favorite with a total of 44.5. New Orleans is a -170 moneyline favorite, with Birmingham at +150.
New Orleans impressed everyone with their demolition of a highly rated Tampa Bay team. In like manner, the Stallions closed strong with their win over the Gamblers. Both of these teams are 2-0 on the season.
This matchup is the game of the week because both teams are 2-0 and playing the best football in the USFL so far.
Birmingham is the top-scoring team in the USFL, with New Orleans right behind. The difference is that the New Orleans defense ranks first for points allowed.
New Orleans quarterback Kyle Sloter is the second-ranked quarterback in the USFL.

Pittsburgh Maulers at Michigan Panthers – 1:30 p.m. – USA Network

The Maulers fell to the Philadelphia Stars 30-23 as 6.5-point dogs. Meanwhile, the Panthers fell to 1-1 in a disappointing 10-6 loss to the New Jersey Generals as 1-point dogs. Michigan is also 0-2 on the season.

New Jersey Generals at Philadelphia Stars – 7 p.m. – Peacock
Philadelphia opened as a -1-point favorite with a total of 40.5. On the moneyline, the Stars opened as a -120 favorite, with the Generals at +100.
Both the Stars and Generals are 1-1 entering this game. Philadelphia wore down the Stars in a game that was not as close as the score indicated. Meanwhile, the Generals used strong defense and an excellent running game to manhandle the Panthers.
This game is a matchup of opposites. New Jersey has the best rushing team in the USFL, while the Stars rank last. Conversely, Philadelphia is the top-ranked passing team in the USFL, while the Generals rank 4th.
